Solar Observatory Shutdown

The National Solar Observatory is in New Mexico USA, in a town appropriately named Sunspot. Since 1952 it has played a major role in advancing our knowledge of the sun. It observes the sun throughout daylight hours, studying radiation, light and other properties of our local star. On September the 6th something strange happened. The Federal Bureau of Investigation forced the institute to close. They literally swooped down on the establishment in a helicopter and took the place over. All the staff were evacuated, even those in the nearby post office. Nothing at all was said for over a week and then the observatory's management, the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, released a statement saying that they had decided to close the facility as a precautionary measure to deal with a "security issue" and that the observatory reopened today. They reported "criminal activity" and a "suspect" being at large on the site. However, the need for the FBI to become involved would indicate very serious criminal activity indeed, probably involving far more than a suspect-singular. Normally the local police would have handled such matters.

There is a massive amount of material online speculating on the real cause of this incident, everything from Nibiru to Chinese spies. There have been some worrying claims that the US government is trying to cover up an impending catastrophe caused by a massive solar flare or a similar cosmic apocalypse to prevent public panic. There are rumours that the National Solar Observatory spotted the rogue planet Nibiru; however, as I explain in the background links, Nibiru does not exist. In fact as I've said many times, cover-ups cannot happen in astronomy. It is the one truly democratic science. There are hundreds of solar observatories in the world and most of them are still operating normally. It would be necessary to shut all of them down, as well as silence the millions of amateur hobbyists, to suppress this kind of upcoming doom. That would be impossible, see background links below. It is certainly possible that the National Solar Observatory saw something it shouldn't have, but if so it was something closer to home. This could be a UFO-related phenomenon or possibly an issue connected with the nearby White Stands and Holloman Air Force Base military reservations. I'm pleased to say that production on the groundbreaking new UFO documentary Capel Green is making excellent progress. Some of the ficitonalization scenes have now been completed and there are some photographs of Larry Warren on location with his alter ego in the film, the actor playing him. Larry appears to be instructing his younger self on how to handle his service rifle. The uniforms and props are very well constructed. There is excellent costume design in this film; see images below.

The precognitive bad reviews are still coming in, but they will not hamper the success of the film when it is released. I know that the original release date has come and gone, but that is a regular problem in the movie industry; we're still waiting for the Avatar sequel years after it was announced. Another project parallel to the documentary is Larry's new autobiography which has the working title Incoming Missile. I've had the privilege of previewing some of the draft. It also includes the story of Larry's life after he wrote his first book, including the recent internet attacks on him which he effectively and comprehensively discredits. In fact the book is not so much a missile as a torpedo, one that will sink SS Troll to the bottom of the sea forever. I very much look forward to the release of Capel Green. It is coming to a screen near you, both big and small, very soon!

The Word "Sheeple"

I have stated several times that I am opposed to using the word "sheeple", a portmanteau of the "sheep" and "people", to describe non-UFO/paranormal/conspiracy theorists because it is derogatory and self-righteous. To fail to do so would be a denial of my present beliefs and observations of current human society. This does not mean I now plan to run all over the place calling everybody "sheeple" left, right and centre. I might not use the word at all, as I have not used it in the past. All I am saying is that "sheeple" now does have a place in my lexicon as an option, to be uttered if and when the appropriate circumstances arise.

Conspiracy Theorists LESS Sane than Average

In 2014 I wrote an article entitled Conspiracy Theorists more Sane than Average because of a study done by a research psychologist called Prof. Karen Douglas. It appeared to come up with the amazing conclusion that conspiracy theorists are more logical and reasonable than skeptics in online debate, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2014/10/conspiracy-theorists-more-sane-than.html. I met Prof. Douglas at the ASSAP Serious Suspicious conference in 2016 and she told me that there was indeed more aggression in the tone of 9/11 official story believers than conspiracists, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2016/11/assap-seriously-suspicious-conference.html. However I met her again last Tuesday at Greenwich Skeptics in the Pub, see here for my HPANWO TV reportage: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2018/09/prof-karen-douglas-at-greenwich-sitp.html. This time she told me it was actually not the case that conspiracists were more rational. She pointed me to the results of research carried out by Snopes.com, a skeptic website that fact checks urban legends. They mention a conspiracy theory website that drew a "series of baseless or incorrect conclusions from a study that looked at the online comments of 9/11 truthers." I wondered in they meant HPANWO, but they were actually referring to Natural News. They say that the claim made by Natural News, and myself, is based on a flawed interpretation of the evidence. The full conclusion of Prof. Douglas' study reads thus:

1. We found that conspiracist commenters were more likely to argue against the opposing interpretation and less likely to argue in favour of their own interpretation, while the opposite was true of conventionalist commenters.

2. Conspiracist comments were more likely to explicitly put forward an account than conventionalist comments were.

3. Conspiracists were more likely to express mistrust and made more positive and fewer negative references to other conspiracy theories.

4. Conspiracists were largely unwilling to apply the "conspiracy theory" label to their own beliefs and objected when others did so, lending support to the long-held suggestion that conspiracy belief carries a social stigma.

5. Conventionalist arguments tended to have a more hostile tone.

Obviously we did misunderstand what was implied by Prof. Douglas' study; however Snopes is being premature in their celebration of avoiding what they call "a rather harrowing notion". Firstly, a project I've spoken about before by Gallup indicates that when taken as a whole conspiratorial ideas are held by a large proportion of the population. In the case of the Kennedy assassination we are the majority. As for the others; we are a minority, but a fairly sizable one. This means that hardcore firebrands like me are actually a very small vocal tip of a huge silent iceberg. Number 1 is not the case in my experience; for example Dr Judy Wood has put forward an entire account of how the World Trade Centre was destroyed, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2015/07/hellyer-checks-evidence.html. Number 2 sounds like a contradiction to number 1. Number 3 is what you would expect with what Michael Barkun calls "the Cultic Milieu", and I don't deny that, see: https://hpanwo.blogspot.com/2010/12/andrew-johnson-newspaper-ad.html. Prof. Douglas made a similar point in Greenwich; that if you believe 9/11 was an inside job you're more likely to believe in ghosts and UFO's etc. I obviously do not go along with number 4, even though I'm aware that the term has been used as a stick to beat us with; it is still factually true. My own experience of online debates is that they tend to be brutal and usually involve very scathing personal criticism. This can escalate into abusive attacks and threats. I see the skeptic side as being the worst, but that might be because it's the side for which I am a target. I know my own side can almost as bad, or even equally so. Facts are the key here and evidence is what matters; I make this point in my HPANWO TV reportage above. Are the things conspiracy theorists say true or false? Prof. Douglas regards this as outside her remit, but if any conspiracy theories are proven true, and many many have been verified in the past, then would she switch her research to social psychological studies of skeptics?

Ships in the Desert

The phrase "ship of the desert" refers to the camel, but what if real seagoing ships suddenly turned up in the desert? Of course, this would be impossible. The desert is the last place you'd find them. However the Digiglobe Quickbird earth observation satellite has spotted just that. The four ships are lying on the ground in a desert region of Kazakhstan, almost a thousand miles away from the open ocean. They are is poor condition and covered with rust. All four are of a size one would expect for vessels designed for intercontinental voyages. Transporting them so far from the sea would be extremely difficult; and what would be the reason for doing it? Is there another possibility? There have been many reports throughout history of ships disappearing, especially in the famous Bermuda Triangle. Sometimes these vessels reappear somewhere else, often a long distance from where they vanished. The most likely explanation is that these were ships that sailed on the Aral Sea, a huge lake that has almost completely dried up. This is one of the worst manmade environmental disasters the earth has ever experienced and was caused by an irrigation project in 1960 that diverted the rivers flowing into the lake to feed the new cities built in the region during the Soviet era. However these videos are all of smaller vessels like fishing boats. The ones in the satellite images look to be of a different design, ocean-going as I said. This reminds me very much of a scene in the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind where a ship is left in the middle of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia by aliens. It turns out to be the SS Cotapaxi, a cargo ship that vanished in the Bermuda Triangle in 1925, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTcKFCw2MO0. Could that have happened in real life? Also, this is not the first time strange things have appeared in the desert in that part of the world, see background links. If the aliens are returning earthly objects that they might have taken, then does this mean they are about to show themselves like they did in the movie?
