More Shadowbanning

When it comes to censorship, TikTok has one of the worst reputations in social media. Numerous users have complained that their material is deleted for political reasons. The platform denies this, but nobody believes them. It is officially Chinese, owned by the Beijing-based company ByteDance; but modern social media is always global these days. Many TikTok users also claim about "algorithmic bias", something Google does quite openly and unapologetically. As you'll see in the background links below, I am more than convinced that I have been shadowbanned by Google and it seems this practice has spread to my TikTok channel. I don't use TikTok much. I literally have only twelve uploads and most of those are off-topic or comedy videos. My latest is a comedy called Charlie Vitch comes to Oxford that I made in October, see: https://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2025/10/charlie-vitch-comes-to-oxford.html. Lately, when playing it from my own channel, a tab actually appears inviting me to check the statistics and when I did I was dismayed and astonished. According to TikTok's own log, the video has had 267 views. It reached a figure around 250 very soon after it was uploaded and since then has hardly risen at all; a trait I've noticed with my other shadowbanned posts, see below. However, the rest of the stats make no sense at all. Apparently only 0.4% of visitors actually watched the video all the way through, that's just ten people. What's more all the others who didn't finish it hardly watched it at all. The average watch time was just 7.75 seconds; that's on a nine minute one second video. Less than ten percent of viewers came across it in searches, even though I used the hashtag #comedy, one of the best for trending. Almost all the others were simply my followers. Amazingly the total playtime for the video, that is all users viewing end-to-end, is just thirty-four minutes twenty-nine seconds, less than four times the video's duration. What's the explanation for this? Am I just a very bad content creator?... I think not. I actually have twenty-seven hearts on the video along with three comments. How does that fit with hardly anybody watching the video? No, I am not a bad content creator; that is just what TikTok, or whoever is really behind my shadowbanning, want me to think. They're hoping I'll think there's no point carrying on because nobody is watching me. They want me to give up. Not a chance! You've blown it! I see through you! I promise you, by the end of 2026, HPANWO will still be truth-telling, resisting tyranny and exposing secrets.

Describing it as a Chinese platform is misleading, given that the algorithms are controlled by part-owner and "trusted security partner" Oracle.

Possibly. It is still officially from China, but of course no major social media are in anyway partisan. I'll do a correction.

Your correction is still incorrect. According to Leo AI -

"TikTok's ownership has recently undergone significant changes. The app was originally owned by **ByteDance**, a Chinese technology company based in Beijing. However, due to U.S. national security concerns about potential Chinese government influence and data access, pressure mounted for ByteDance to divest its U.S. operations.

In September 2025, the U.S. and China reached a framework deal for TikTok's U.S. operations to be sold to a consortium of American investors, including **Larry Ellison of Oracle**. President Trump signed an executive order in September 2025 allowing TikTok to continue operating in the U.S. on the basis that ByteDance would sell most of its stake in TikTok's American operations. The deal was expected to transfer majority ownership to a group of U.S. and international investors, with the company valued at approximately $14 billion.

Oracle, co-founded by Trump supporter Larry Ellison, will license TikTok's recommendation algorithm as part of the arrangement. This deal ends years of efforts by Washington to force ByteDance to sell its U.S. operations over concerns about data privacy and potential Chinese government access to American user information."

You are using the American version so you are censored by Oracle, not by the CCP.

So be it, MT, but I don't have time to alter the article again. I've got an update on my legal situation. That's coming next!
