The End of Crop Circles?

Andy Thomas has written his traditional annual crop circle report in Nexus magazine. It is subtitled "Strange Days, the New Normal". The numbers of crop circles has risen and fallen throughout the years with high seasons and low seasons. Yet after the harvest of 2025 we can no longer kid ourselves, the phenomenon is suffering a long-term decline. Ironically this has coincided with a burgeoning of interest in the circles that has burst the banks of the woo-o-sphere, even with a few minor three-digit news outlets like News Nation and GB News covering them. This season started very late; not until mid May, and there were only nineteen confirmed formations this year which is about average for the decade so far. They tended to be less grand than previous eras and none were confirmed as not being manmade. There were one or two nice ones, such as the "toppled CD stack" from Lyme Regis, Devon and a similar design incorporated into a seven pointed star in Italy. There was a return to traditional roots at Hackpen Hill with a standard quintuplet surrounded by a thick circle. Some fine 3D images appeared such as a German one that looks like a naval mine and a representational spider image at Cerne Abbas, famous for its "rude man". Another representational image was what looked like a clown at Stonehenge. It has been nicknamed "the jester"; and I'm sure the skeptics will get the joke. There were some native spiritual icons like a pentacle and Celtic knot too. Source: https://nexusmagazine.com/?v=79cba1185463.

So, is this the long predicted demise of the crop circle phenomenon? If that's what's going on the skeppers will be gloating of course. The rest of us, including me, will be very sad. I'll miss them terribly and I won't be alone. Crop circles have been a source of wonder and delight for the UFO-paranormal-conspirasphere for several generations. There has not yet been a summer without them since the late 70's. I suppose we've come to take them for granted. I don't know if they will ever end because I don't know why they appear to begin with. What do they mean? If they ever ended it would not only be something that would give us personal grief it might be a bad sign, that the intelligence behind them had abandoned us. Alternatively it could be a good sign. A time might come when whoever, or whatever, gives us this gift decides we no longer need it and they can now leave us to develop by ourselves. It's a bit like in Tolkien with the elves leaving Middle Earth just before the War of the Ring because they know men have evolved to the point where they no longer need the elves to guide them. It's all a part of growing up; children leave home, birds fly the nest etc. That would make it both a sad and happy moment. If the circles ever ended it might mean that we were ready for something even better. We'll see what happens next year, but whatever that is, even if we lose them forever, maybe the only appropriate response is to repeat what the late Michael Glickman used to say: "Thank you... whoever you are... wherever you are!"

Some people think that due to the plethora of man made EM signals and modern day powerful high frequency range signals, the energies and/or signals used to create the crop circles by unknown intelligence is reduced. I know Simon Parkes has also stated it. That does not negate what you say Ben and I totally echo your sentiments. Perhaps the alien intelligence are on a countdown like in the film Independance Day !! I do not think they are malevolent though, they are intriguing us to think when we look at the circles, like we do in art galleries. I have fond memories of Wiltshire from 1978 to 1992 growing up, and a night in september 1991 is forever with me, meeting my first love that night. In recent years there's been a lot of fascinating circles. In 2023 Miles Johnson was awoken to the news he had a crop circle in his nearby area! It also mysterioysly grew other circle overnight!! I find that circle interesting from a personal standpoint which I will disclose some time. Crop circles are for us all to delight in and enjoy the beauty of, it would be a shame to see them disappear, but I do not think they will. We must endeavour to grasp the new meanings in the scarseness of the quantity of circles, like a wartime de-coder or a modern day meme. We shall see what's next in crop circles and wishing for great ones ahead. Not forgetting ice circles. Nanoo Nanoo

That's a great comment, Chris. Thanks. Almost everybody I know has some story involving crop circles and personal aspects of their lives. I know there are theories that they're made with DEW's and/or are psyops, but I agree that they are friendly and benign. One of the most positive mysterious phenomenon of all. The film Signs (Is that the one you mean) had them being used by evil aliens or demons to invade the earth. I thought this was a silly use of something real adapted to Hollywood. Time will tell what happens next. Andy is optimistic and says in his report we will just have to get used to having fewer, but they will still be there for us.
