Orwellian Coin

The Royal Mint has released a new coin commemorating George Orwell. To get oneself on the money is the ultimate honour for anybody in Britain and so on one level this is a very positive development. The reverse has his name and the All-Seeing Eye with the words "Big Brother is watching you." The edge text reads: "There was truth and there was untruth"; another quote from Nineteen Eighty-Four. The Mint is issuing special collectors editions, all for more than two pounds of course. Source: https://www.royalmint.com/shop/limited-editions/george-orwell. Don't worry; I'm sure you'll be able to sell yours on to some Japanese bloke for five times what you paid for it. I just find it beyond ironic for the Bank of England to produce the ultimate memorial to George Orwell when the society it envisions is exactly the one the author warned us about in his fictional allegory. Straight after the Orwellian coin their next plan is to push further for a cashless economy, microchip implants and a central bank digital currency. The happy alternative is that there is somebody inside the Royal Mint who is secretly on our side and wants to put out a warning; a bit too blatantly if that is the case.
