If there is one thing more predictable about Keir Starmer's
government than the forcing through of the Online Safety Act, it is the
inevitable excavation of the national identity card from its deep, deep grave.
National ID has been proposed several times over the years. Margaret Thatcher
hoped to introduce it by first dishing it out to football fans to weed out
hooligans. During Covid it was promoted as a way to prevent infection. Tony
Blair tried to bring it in by telling us it keeps us safe from terrorism; and
now Starmer wants it because he's finally decided, after ages of wanting the
opposite, that he plans to solve the migration crisis. Notice anything in
common? There's never anything good about national ID cards; they're only ever
presented as a solution to some problem. More often than not it is a problem
the government created. Sometimes they create the problem for that very
purpose; as David Icke says "problem-reaction-solution". In this case
it's not so much creation as repurposing. National ID will give birth to the
ultimate "papers please!" society. Forget anything the government
tell you about limitations and restrictions; platitutdes like "we'll only
use it for people applying for jobs" etc, which is the sales pitch they've
got right now. Once the scheme has been established it can be adapted afterwards
into whatever the hell the government want. A land with national ID is a prison
nation where nothing can be done by anybody without the state's permission. Also
ignore the justification that so many other countries have national ID. Just
because they have joined Oceania doesn't mean we have to
follow; in the same way just because other European countries did not leave the
EU, that does not invalidate Brexit. Perhaps Starmer hopes to win support for
this policy on the current wave of migration fears. If so then he badly underestimates
us. Does he really think we can't see through that sham? Nigel Farage calls it
"a cynical ploy to fool voters that something is being done about illegal
immigration" and he's right. Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g54g6vgpdo.
It is essential that we resist. We do not cooperate with this unconstitutional
attack against the British people. I'm pleased to say the petititon has almost reached
a million signatures at the time of writing. Please add yours: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/730194.
The bill will have to go through Parliament, but I fear that the MP's are too
cucked to do anything about it. There will be an attempt to steamroller it
through in a rush. Starmer hopes that the "Brit Card" will be a part
of everyday life before the end of his term. Let's all give him a different
message!

The scariest issue about this from my perspective and understanding is Palantir being involved. I have spent many years trying to avoid as much of my actual 'real life' being harvested by my digital footprint and apps that utilise this data. 1984 is a cakewalk compared to the emergence of AI that has the potential to impersonate an online version of you, me or anyone else. Palantir has used its' data collection to train and develop AI if you are unaware and is heavily involved in state security.Through giving bad actors the ability to remove, repurpose or have this data hacked including the mandatory digital ID is a disaster about to happen at best, enslavement at worst. No job or state assistance for you 'person no grata' or 'digitally erased' Cambridge Analytica data harvesting was the naughty toddler, Palantir is the curious teenager that thinks they are an adult.
I know what you mean, Anon. This technology was not yet invented in the late 1940's when Orwell wrote. If it had I hope he would not have despaired, but honestly if he could have faced this it would have been his greatest achievement.
This has nothing to do with illegal immigration or illegal employment. People undeterred by the prospect of traversing 22 miles of cold, choppy seawater in an inflatable are not going to be deterred by the existence of digital ID. Legitimate employers already check passports and/or driving licences. Fly-by-night employers do not and will not check digital ID either.
Correct. And of course the moment they arrive they'll simply be given one. Countries with ID, Denmark for example, still have a migration crisis.
