Pentagon AATIP Confirmation

A DoD spokesman told the New York Post that the US government did indeed have a programme to investigate "unidentified aerial phenomena." from 2007 to 2012. The term "unidentified flying object" is never used in officialdom because of its connotations in popular culture. Nick Pope confirmed that the UK Ministry of Defence used the same term as the USDoD for the same reason. He also called this new revelation a "bombshell". Since December 2017, the possibility that the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Programme was just another scheme for spotting new enemy aircraft could not be ruled out, although even at the time it seemed unlikely.
