Noises Under a House

A social media friend has made me aware of a very bizarre and unsettling occurrence that, if true, has terrifying implications. Recently a number of fly posters have been appearing in the urban areas of Gloucestershire that have been distributed by a couple from south Wales called Alan and Christine Tait. Mr and Mrs Tait are effectively homeless and are travelling round in a van. They have a house in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, a few miles north of Swansea; but they say they have had to abandon it because of some truly alarming incidents. Mr and Mrs Tait have established an extensive website explaining what has happened. Their house is in the town centre within a row of shops. Next door is an empty property so it was a complete surprise last June when the couple heard noises coming from it. This was also very late at night, about 2.30 AM. They followed the sounds into the alleyway between their house and their empty neighbour and the sounds became louder. It was definitely coming from there. This happened again on other nights, so the Taits started recording the sounds. They narrowed down the noise to the basement level and dug two shafts into the wall between the two properties to obtain better quality recordings. These recordings can be heard on their website; be warned, they are disturbing. There is some kind of machine running. It makes a beeping sound like a large road vehicle's reversing alarm; and a flushing liquid noise. There is a grinding noise like a drill. There is knocking or hammering. A few times voices were heard. We hear men speaking in a foreign language; I can't identify it, but it is definitely not English or Welsh. Most frightening of all are the screams of children. Along with the noise, substances with a strange smell have been poured into the drain in the alleyway that made Mr And Mrs Tait feel ill. Interestingly the same mechanical noises can be heard in this short video about the Betws Mine in Wales which is close to Ammanford, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Bf-zSVigUI. However the mine closed many years ago, like most coal mines sadly have; and it was also so deep that sound from the colliery should not reach the surface. There are other reports of unknown underground chambers and tunnels beneath Ammanford, for example see: https://www.southwalesguardian.co.uk/news/11116378.secret-tunnel-found-near-ammanford-castle/. Mr and Mrs Tait obviously phoned the police, but the Dyfed and Powys constabulary were strangely reluctant to investigate. They only made very token enquiries and then moved along. The Taits were horrified by this. They have theorized that there is some kind of secret manufacturing operation in next door's basement, possibly a drug factory. It is possible; such things have happened before, for example see: https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/375818/Dad-s-secret-drug-factory-hidden-under-the-patio. The voices we hear indicate that people are being kept prisoner there against their will, including children, and they are being abused. This discovery also sounds worrying similar to the Kindercare case in Florida USA that the FBI agent Ted Gunderson investigated, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2c1siCGv78. In both instances we see a lack of response from the authorities which could imply that they are complicit. For anybody who doubts such a thing is possible, please educate yourself quickly; for example see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE9kX1Ip0c4, and see the background links below. Another possibility is that the sounds are some kind of paranormal phenomenon, but this is unlikely considering the other suspicious elements like the chemicals in the drain. The details can be found on the Taits' website, see: http://www.noisesinmylane.co.uk/index.html (the website is unlisted so you will need to copy and paste the URL into the address box). Source: https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/gloucester-news/spoke-people-behind-bizarre-noises-2748785. I am in personal contact with the two individuals concerned and will provide updates on this situation as soon as I can.

OMG, Ben. I had no idea this was in Ammanford! Why then, are they posting notices in Gloucester? What a weird story...

J, it's because they're not in their home any more. I don't know why they've in GLOUCS. Maybe they have relatives there.

Very very strange phenomena Ben. Many thanks for that. I doubt it's a hoax and Im fairly sceptical coming from a scientific background. I think something like an underground drug factory/people smuggling/sex worker operation will be the cause of these noises.
Anyway when will you be doing an Assange blog? I need to know the HPANWO position. Cheers. Ade

Hi Ade. You're welcome. I also suspect it's some kind of secret operation, obviously supported by the authorities, hence the lack of police investigations. As for Assange, I actually have covered this. Check our HPANWO TV and HPANWO Radio.

On the British Geological Survey GeoIndex online map, Ammanford is located at the centre of the South Wales Coal Measures (one of the most famous of mine areas). There are active mines in the area.

In my opinion, the sounds recorded are possibly being transmitted from external sources along an unmapped shaft and adit complex, linking the basement to mine workings and shafts elsewhere. The old shafts will be flooded, hence the muffled but distinct sound transmission.

The authorities likely are aware of the danger/potential for insurance claims and are therefore reluctant to get involved. Of course, this does not detract in any way from the very real distress felt by the couple.

My first thought on hearing the childrens 'screams' was it sounded like kids playing in a swimming pool, excited screams, not fearful screams.

most of the recording sound like the sounds were made in a confined space, echoing, like a public toilet, shower area, boiler room, swimming pool complex, or similar space

grinding noise was very similar to a neighbour drilling an industrial hammer drill on the party wall.

All this combined with traffic noises is just odd.

How close is their house to: Amman Valley Leisure Centre Margaret Street Ammanford SA18 2NP ?

Sound waves travel in odd ways, they can hear it from the drain outside, wonder if the smell was like chlorine, weather the leisure centre had recent overnight maintenance, how diligent they were at recording the times of the incidents if they left the recorder running etc. '1000 hours' were the kids screaming in the middle of the night or the middle of the day.

More questions than answers.

The rational explination is they're picking up sounds from the drain system linked to the leisure centre, and a busy road.

And this is the 21st century, muti media is standard fare, eveyone has a video camera on their phone (actually I don't even have a phone but you get the point, I do have video on my camera tho) they never thought to video any of their exploits?

pics or it dint happen lol

Hi Laurence. Thanks for the info. Some of the noises resembled those from the Betws mine and if there is an active mine in the area and a way the sound could be transmitted; that could be it. I'll run it past the Taits.

Ben Emlyn-Jones said...

Anon, there are pics. See the website. As for the source of the noise; that is possible. We'll see.

Not at all Ben. FYI, The nearest active mine is the Glan Lash surface coal mine, Blaenau.

Ben Emlyn-Jones said...

That's quite a distance, Laurence. It could be so though. I'll ask Alan and Christine.

Laurence said...

Sorry Ben, you are correct of course! I meant this mine, near LLandybie, about 2 miles away from Ammanford: Glan Lash mine

Ben Emlyn-Jones said...

Thanks for the details, Laurence. I'll ask the Taits. If there is some kind of deep sound channel transmitting noises from there, it should be possible to work it out.

My goodness, Ben, just make sure that website of theirs is not installing some kind of malware on your computer!

Ben Emlyn-Jones said...

Thanks, Jimmy, but it hasn't. I've been thinking about the sound channel theory. It wouldn't account for the chemicals. I'll have a word with the couple.
