Anti-Boris Rebels Lose Vote

See here for essential background: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2022/01/is-boris-finished.html.
The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has survived a vote of no confidence. A significant faction of his own party has risen up to demand his resignation following "partygate". In the end they lost 148 votes to 211. 180 votes would have been needed to pass the no confidence motion and force his removal. Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-60289386. Does this mean Boris is now safe? Maybe; however winning this vote doesn't ensure his survival. Theresa May also won her no confidence vote, by an even bigger margin, yet she was still ousted a few months later. The Sue Gray report into Boris' lockdown shindigs was absolutely catastrophic. It exposed the PM as a barefaced hypocrite and a liar. The Tories will be worried that the electorate will bear a grudge at the next election; and who can blame us? In fact there are two by-elections coming up in a couple of weeks which might be used as a colliery canary. I expect Boris' enemies in the Conservative Party will regroup and attack again. I feel fairly indifferent and divided over this issue. There is no way I can bring myself to root for Boris, but the only result of his downfall would be that he is replaced by somebody even worse. It's a long shot, but I can only hope that this experience causes him to understand the blunder that he made. He has betrayed us, dropping out of populism and embracing the mainstream. It was a devil's bargain and the devil never pays up. Is it forlorn to ask if he can possibly claw his way back to where he used to be?

Heartening to know that he is staying PM to the bitter end and is likely to completely destroy any credibility the conservative party have with the electorate in the process. Even the hatchet job on Corbyn by the gutter press didn't result in the level of dissatisfaction that the clown now enjoys, that's karma I expect.

What is surprising is how many fools voted for him on the back of 'get brexit done' without spending a shred of time looking at his track record of being sacked from every previous role he has had or leaving as every project he was responsible for failed. London mayor gaffs being especially hilarious from unusable water cannons to bouncy bridges... vanity projects to grab headlines much like his policies and slogans.

You would be hard pushed at this point to find a Brexiteer who can point to any Boris 'wins' and a catalogue of Boris fails that is still growing with the icing on the cake going to be breaking international law on multiple fronts with human rights and the Good Friday agreement before the next election.

Remainers probably screaming 'told you so' from the rafters at this point and justifiably so. An embarrassment to the country and those who voted for him naively thinking he was 'populist. Maybe listen less to populist propaganda and vote for the person next time.

Theresa May of all people is the only one coming out of this smelling of roses...

Hi Anon.
I was one of those who supported him a few years ago. I now regret this. However, I have a different view on Brexit to you. I still think Brexit was a good thing and there was no reason to think Boris' stance on the issue was genuine. He truly was a populist inm those days. Of course I'm the first to admit we saw him through rose-tinted specs as a result. There were warning signs in his career before that he lacked the moral strength to resist the temptation to abuse his authority. Perhaps it is no surprise he had his parties when he thought he could get away with it.

Deary me. PMs are selected not elected. All MPs are self-serving and work for the banksters and corporations. There's no remedy for ordinary people in the wholly corrupt, masonic-zionist westminster system. To beleive otherwise is simply jaw-dropping naivety at best. Left and Right are two cheeks of the same arse.

MJ, can I suggest you take a look at the background links? I know it's a long story, but it charts my journey from wrongly thinking Boris was different and would stick by his guns. I'm well aware of the truth behind the facade.
