Malaysia Signs

The government of Malaysia has finally signed its agreement with Ocean Infinity in their quest to find MH370. Even though the government have yet to comment officially, the families' organization has published a letter with a Malaysian government header stating the signing has been done privately. Normally there is a public ceremony with a press contingent for things like this. What took them so long? OI offered them a no-find-no-fee deal; it is a no-brainer. What was left to negotiate? Still, Malaysia dithered, looking the gift horse in the mouth for weeks on end. Perhaps there are bureaucrats in Kuala Lumpur who don't want the wreck to be found for political reasons; even the obvious ones, like their conflict with China. This doesn't include some of the more arcane elements that I'm sure some Malaysians are only too aware of. Still, Malaysia started to come across like one of those annoying people at the front of a checkout queue at the grocers saying: "I'll sign this cheque in a moment... honest." All this time Armada 7806 was diligently doing its job. It refuelled in Fremantle and headed back out to the search area. At the time of writing it has almost completed its bathymetric survey of the Blelly-Marchand hotspot. This is not the search as such, it is simply building a detailed map of the seabed in the area for which the search is planned. Later in the week it will be running low of fuel and supplies, and have to return to port again. Perhaps now the contract is signed OI will be able to commit more resources to the project; so Armada will be joined by more vessels with more AUV's and personnel. So far the sole ship has been carrying out a standard coverage pattern, not stopping in one place for long periods, which makes it clear it has not found anything of interest yet. I'm still watching Richard Godfrey and Geoffrey Thomas' daily bulletins, but I sometime do find those two quite tiresome. They are staunchly "anti-conspiracy theory" which is a nonsensical statement because all of MH37-tology is by its very definition a conspiracy theory. What they actually mean is they think their own conspiracy theory is right because it's based on the official story and Richard's WSPR technology. Their antipathy for Jeff Wise is palpable. They also made a video which included a letter they received from a Boeing engineer who described his revulsion towards the "grifters!" who spread "nonsense!" about the missing aircraft; not caring about the "pain!" they inflict on the "families!" This is a dishonest and snide manoeuvre that I'm all too familiar with, see: https://hpanwo-bb.blogspot.com/2009/01/show-some-respect.html. I don't need to add anything else to the comment I left on the video: "That rather mawkish and conniving letter from Mr York is illogical as well as unfair. Is he going to go up to a police detective investigating a murder and call the detective a "shameless grifter" because he earns a police salary? Right now we don't know for sure that Jeff Wise or Ashton Forbes are wrong. They might be right. In the absence of information a lot of differing ideas emerge. I was hoping we could be adult about this and disagree with others without making slurs against their character and dark assumptions about their motives. Mr York does not OWN the 239. He is not their officially appointed mourner. Nobody is showing respect and sensitivity to their loved ones by keeping quiet about information or trying to moral blackmail others into doing the same." On the subject of Ashton Forbes and Jeff Wise, their work means that there is an important alternative because it might exonerate the MH370 senior pilot Capt. Zaharie Ahmad Shah. Never before in history has one man been so demonized by so many based on so little evidence. Richard and Geoffrey think its likely Shah was to blame. In a way it is understandable, if you believe the official story. As senior pilot in a situation with such a huge element of mystery he will inevitably be a prime suspect. However, the only real evidence against him is the Flight Sim file. Richard and Geoffrey think it's suspicious he deleted it. Why? His PC will not have infinite storage space. I sometimes play MS Flight Simulator and I delete old scenarios all the time to save disk space. There were no other odd elements to Shah's behaviour. He was acting normally at home just before leaving for work. Earlier in the day he did his usual charity job delivering meals on wheels. He left no note or manifesto. Clearly if Jeff or Ashton are correct; and I've come down more on the side of Ashton, then its totally likely Capt. Shah had nothing to do with his aircraft's disappearance. He may have fought hard to stop the plane being taken or destroyed. We'll have to wait and see what happens next.
