Capel Green has Gone

See here for essential background: https://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2025/07/capel-green-premiere.html.
I'm very sad to report that it looks like the Capel Green project has failed. The documentary has had a very limited release in a handful of cinemas in England and Australia, but since then distribution has floundered. For a few months now there has been a lot of conflict between different members of the production team. I cannot reveal everything right now; hopefully there will be a full explanation soon. To be honest I have found the issue difficult to follow and do not understand everything that's happened. Now Tino, the assistant director, has made a public statement along with the illustration above: "With all the best intentions and efforts of many of the crew of Capel Green we have not been able to convince the film's director Dion Johnson to release the film to the world. The ball is very much in Dion's court now, but as it stands sadly right now it is RIP." I don't know what's going to happen now. The best we can hope for is that the film will simply be uploaded to YouTube so that people can at least watch it. I hope it will be the long cut, not just because I'm in it! The extended version contains all the necessary information and, despite its duration, not a single frame is wasted. However, any edit of the film will do. I feel privileged and happy that I went to the premiere. I do hope that, despite everything, something good can come out of the nine years of effort and hope that went into making Capel Green.

It's very difficult to understand Dion Johnson's position. You would have thought he would have been as emotionally invested in the work as anyone else. From a purely commercial point of view the looming juggernaut of big budget Hollywood documentaries and movies won't help it to get screenings so perhaps this is a bad time. Perhaps Capel Green is off-message or somehow contradicts the impression Hollywood wants to create at this point and pulling the plug on it has been incentivised.

His position is utterly baffling, MT. He's already done all the work for nine years. Think of all the money and effort he's put in. Cg is definitely unique in terms of RFI docus and there are many many of them. It's certainly the most topical and innovative, brining brand new information. It reopens the case for sure. Has Dion been "got at" I wonder?

Most likely scenario is that the film was a veritable flop. In the age of CGI, this sort of UFO stuff is more old hat than your great grandfather's trilby. Nobody is going to believe it, let alone be impressed by the special effects. As your AI graphic suggests, they may have got an audience before 2020 but not now.

Not at all. It cannot be a flop before it's even been distributed. That's like calling an athlete the last man over the line before the race has even started. The signs were actually very good. The premiere and first cinema run were sold out, as were the London and Australian runs. Dion had just been on News Nation. The signs were very good at the time.
