Scary TV Ad

Television advertisements are intended to sell products, but they have become a kind of art form in themselves with their own entertainment value. Some of them are actually quite disturbing, usually unintentionally; but a few have been banned. In the 1980's a series of ads were produced for Duckhams motor oil. The slogan was: "If an engine could choose its own oil, it couldn't choose a better oil that Duckhams Hypergrade... the engine's choice." One that I remember well includes a horror element. It featured a man driving along a narrow road in a remote area of moorland. There is thick fog everywhere. The oil level warning light goes on so he stops the car to fill it up. After he opens the bonnet and takes a can of oil from the boot the car then comes to life. It shuts its own bonnet and locks all the doors. This is presumably a rebellion because the driver is not using Duckhams. The soundtrack is a series of frightening ghostly moans and reverberating mumbles. It took me a long time to find it online, but here it is: https://www.facebook.com/ben.emlynjones/videos/2373655079665191.

New MH370 Witness

Today marks the eleventh anniversary of the disappearance of the airliner MH370. Amazingly, in the last few days, a possible breakthrough into the case has come to light. It has been revealed that an Emirates pilot might have spotted MH370 in the southern Indian Ocean. Capt. Martyn Smith was flying an Airbus A380, a classic aircraft for that carrier, from Melbourne to Dubai on the night of the 7th of March 2014; flight number EK407. He was in an area where he didn't expect to see any other aircraft, but he then spotted the navigation beacons of another plane. This was strange because the unknown visual did not have a working transponder. Capt. Smith verified with air traffic control that there was no other aircraft in his area. If this mysterious contact was MH370 then it will be confirmation that the rogue Boeing 777 was heading in the direction theorized by the Inmarsat data, and Richard Godfrey and his colleagues using WSPR technology. Richard has been talking to Capt. Smith to pinpoint the exact location where he saw the "known unknown". Source: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SCr5vuhcG0. This would be a vital piece of evidence, if true; however, there are a few problems with it. Firstly, why has it taken so long for this testimony to come to light? This is the first time I and all other MH37-tologists have even heard about it. It is even more baffling when you consider that Capt. Smith correctly filed a near miss report with Emirates' safety office. Why was this story not mentioned at the initial inquiry? Surely it is of vital importance. Godfrey has made a few excuses that really make no sense. Why did the person flying the plane leave the navigation beacons switched on?

It is actually an extraordinary piece of good luck that EK407 passed close enough to the unknown to see it, when you consider how vast the Indian Ocean is and how restricted the human eye is. Along with very good luck, very bad luck is mixed in perfectly to create the soufflé that we call the MH370 official theory. It should have been possible to detect MH370 during its flight using the Jindalee Operational Radar Network- JORN. This is a highly sensitive and long-range military radar system used by the Royal Australian Air Force. Its actual capability is probably classified, but the RAAF admit publicly that JORN's effective range is about 1,800 miles. This easily covers the estimated course of MH370. In fact one of its engineers boasts they would watch airliners taking off and landing at Singapore Changi Airport, that's about 2000 miles away. Remember that a commercial airliner has no stealth features; it's not designed to evade detection. On the contrary, it is beneficial for it to be plainly visible on primary radar. But, guess what! JORN was down for maintenance during that exact time period. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg98bEgK8Do. I can't help feeling we're being fobbed off here. This is the Project MOGUL of MH370. We shall have to wait and see if more information comes to light. As I write these words, Armada 7806 has left Freemantle refuelled and victualed with a new crew. She is heading to the search area and should arrive sometime on Tuesday to resume scanning the seabed for the remains of MH370.

New Search for MH370

Ocean Infinity have begun their new search for the missing airliner MH370. The original search during March and April 2014 was the biggest and most expensive maritime salvage operation in history. It covered 3.2 million square miles of ocean. It came up with nothing at all. This new operation will focus on a different part of the seventh arc, more to the southeast then previous searches. Ocean Infinity will use new technology and experience gained from their successful locations of the sunken submarine San Juan and the ore carrier Stellar Daisy. They have made a no-find-no-fee offer to the Malaysian government, that being if they fail again to find MH370 they will not ask them for any money. This deal is not finalized yet, but the ship Armada 7806 has already sailed and reached the search zone. (I can hear Alan Partridge complaining that they've named a single vehicle with a collective noun!) Their ships are brand new and have on board a fleet of AUV's- autonomous underwater vehicles. These are robot submarines a bit like the ROV's- remotely operated vehicles, used to find the wreck of the Titanic; and, more recently, the Titan tourist submarine that sank near her. The difference is that the AUV's do not need remote controls. They can sail into the depths of the ocean being driven by an artificially intelligent control computer. They have special batteries that give them record-breaking submerged endurance. Since the initial search several new theories have emerged about where the sunken aircraft might be. The YouTuber Mentour Pilot has been working with researchers to produce a new documentary about this, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5K9HBiJpuk; also see the background link below. As a result the new search will examine these new "hotspots". This YouTube channel is a good resource because it has some technical explanation videos along with daily progress reports. A regular guest is Richard Godfrey, one of the pioneers of the WSPR technology used to expand the search and pinpoint the hotspots, see: https://www.youtube.com/@geoffreythomas-on-air.

Should this venture be successful it will close the book on one of the most mysterious and bizarre incidents in the history of aviation. That will hopefully bring comfort and closure to the loved ones of the 239 missing souls who were onboard. But how likely is the mission to be successful? Also, and more disturbingly, if results are published should be believe them? Up until now not one single trace of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane has ever been found. I know numerous fragments have been discovered, most famously the Reunion flaperon and the pieces picked up by Blaine Gibson; but in my view it is not certain that any of these came from MH370. According to Ashton Forbes, the plane never got past the Nicobar Islands in the coastal region of Indonesia before it was "orbed", for example see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwaC4AXFqRI. Will Ocean Infinity and the Malaysian government create a piece of theatre to pretend they have found MH370 when in reality they haven't? Or would they plant the real airframe on the seabed? Is the evidence Ashton has discovered enough to justify that? If the success of the mission is real then would that prove Ashton wrong? I don't have answers to any of these questions yet. As usual, we will have to wait and see. I'll post updates as soon as they emerge.
