Zealandia

As every good schoolboy knows, the world is divided into seven continents with oceans in between; Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Africa, Antarctica and Australia. Some geologists classify India as a continent, but that is debatable. However, there is one region of the Earth that has been recently listed at the planet's eighth definitive continent. It's called Zealandia and it is in the South Pacific Ocean with a narrow fault between it and Australia's south-eastern boundary. A lot of its western land lies beneath the Tasman Sea, hence it has been nicknamed "Tasmantis" by some witty geologist, probably at a drunken party. Unlike the other continents, at the present time with the current sea level, most of Zealandia is submerged by the ocean. None of the continents are completely exposed to the air and all of them have their low lying extremities underwater; this is called the continental shelf and it includes the seas around the British Isles for example. Zealandia however is almost all continental shelf and very little land. The seven percent of the continent that can be seen are the peaks of its mountains that are high enough to stick above the waves; these are some of the islands of the South Pacific: New Caledonia, Chatham, Antipodes, Norfolk, Elizabeth, Bounty and Campbell Islands. Most of Zealandia's dry land is on a single large central plateau that rises to a set of mountain ranges. You may have heard of it; it's called New Zealand. It must be quite a boost for Kiwi patriotism to think they're part of a continent in their own right and not just a few islands off the coast of Australia. In fact Zealandia was once part of Australia, but it broke away through tectonic movement about eighty-five million years ago.

Sea level fluctuates considerably over time. Its level depends very much on geological forces and climate change. During periods of global warming there is less ice at the poles and this causes the sea level to rise. This happened very dramatically between the eleventh and tenth millennium BC. The polar ice caps shrank suddenly and considerably, and sea levels rose three or four hundred feet or more until they were close to their present point. Before that, much of the continental shelves were dry land. The British Isles were a peninsula of Europe and most of the seas surrounding Indonesia did not exist. Obviously far more of Zealandia was also exposed, however not much more in terms of percentage because most of its plains are below two thousand feet under the current sea level and you have to go back over two hundred million years to find the sea that low. There is a lot of controversy associated with sea level change because of the questions it raises over the dating of architectural anomalies. I've discussed before the work of people like Graham Hancock and Rand and Rose Flem-Ath; see background links below. These researchers have radical views regarding the origins of civilization. For example Hancock and his colleagues, Robert Bauval, Prof. Robert Schoch and John Anthony West, claim that the Sphinx of Egypt is far older than its previously listed date. Officially it was built during the twenty-fifth century BC around the time of the Great Pyramid; but the new study pushes that date back a long time, three or four millennia at least. Hancock and his team have their critics, most notably Dr Zahi Hawass, and the debate has gone back and forth. However, when somebody discovers a sophisticated artificial structure on the seabed it changes everything because it can only have been constructed when that part of the continental shelf was dry land. So sea level change effectively places an indisputable minimum age on an object. Hancock and others have indeed found buildings under the sea. The best example is off the coast of India where two entire cities resides, but there are many others. See here for details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va0BIqfzpvo. This seriously upsets our view of human history because officially there were no major urban developments in the world until the cities of Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt rose up at the end of fourth millennium BC. People only lived in small communities that were mostly nomadic or semi-nomadic. A lot of human cultures have myths about a long lost high society that was destroyed by flooding. The best known of these are the Greek story of Atlantis and Noah's Ark from the Bible. There are many others from across the world, Cantre'r Gwaelod in Wales, the legend of Zaralelli in South Africa, the hero Manu in India etc. Are these tales really folk memories of real events, or did the people come up with the same plots by coincidence? I wonder if there is evidence from the huge undersea continent of Zealandia. Hardly surprisingly, yes. The Maori people, the indigenous culture of New Zealand, have exactly such a folk tale, see: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/flood-myths.html#Maori. Are there any mysterious undersea stone monuments there too?

The Milo Scandal

Milo Yiannopoulos is one of the loudest and most controversial household names to emerge in the last few years. I first heard of him through my interest in the men's rights movement and my own criticism of feminism, before he was a mainstream celebrity; see background links below. It is only during the Trump campaign that he shot to international stardom. He faced fierce opposition from the left, the right and almost all other sides. As a homosexual Jew who favours interracial sex, but who also has hard right wing views, he finds enemies virtually everywhere. He is often regarded as the public face of the emergent "Alt-right" movement, however not everybody in the Alt-right accepts him. He is more a fellow traveller. He is very eloquent, provocative, witty and intelligent which makes him difficult to ignore whether you love him or hate him. The issue he feels the strongest about is free speech. He was banned from Twitter a few months ago when he got in to an argument with the actress Leslie Jones after he gave her film Ghostbusters a very damning review. Internet bullies chimed in and subjected Jones, a black woman, to racist abuse. Milo was unfairly blamed for this and had his account permanently deleted. However much worse was to come. The scandal that broke out these last couple of weeks is far more serious and might even destroy him. Strangely enough the cause of all the outrage is comments Milo made during radio interviews over a year ago. He appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience in September 2015 and the Drunken Peasants podcast in January last year. During these broadcasts he spoke candidly about child abuse. He explains that when he was thirteen years old he had a sexual relationship with "Father Michael", a Catholic priest who he knew until he was sixteen. Even though he is Jewish his family converted to his father's Roman Catholicism. He regards the matter very nonchalantly and even jokes about it. He feels that he was able to enter into mature consensual sex with this man, who was twenty-nine when they met. Even more seriously, he claims to have attended Hollywood pool parties where "very young boys" performed sexual acts with the guests which included some very famous actors and film crew. This matches the testimony of the young movie stars Cory Feldman and Elijah Wood. When this story broke he had his invitation revoked to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference. He was forced to resign as editor of Breitbart News after the staff threatened to go on strike if he didn't. Also Simon and Schuster cancelled his book. They were due to publish his autobiography in June this year; a deal worth over a quarter of a million dollars for Milo. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGL5eRw7rXU and: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azC1nm85btY.

The timing of this revelation is clearly deliberate. When Milo uttered these words they passed over the radar without a blip; in fact I listened to the shows myself at the time and don't even remember the segments in question. It's obvious this is a coordinated premeditated attack on him by this very cross-party coalition-of-convenience that are his enemies. The response has been very mixed. If you put his name into Google you'll find almost everybody has commented and they all have a different opinion. Some are denouncing him as a paedophile apologist; others are appealing for calm. I personally think Milo should be treated compassionately. A lot of the condemnation he has received comes from people who don't understand how children respond to being sexually abused. The fact is: Milo has told us that he was a victim of sexual abuse as a young boy. This has been forgotten in the emotional furore. Such an ordeal affects different people in different ways. It's not uncommon for children to fall into denial about what has happened to them. Some of them blame themselves. It's also a psychological defensive tactic to simply brush it off or trivialize it. They can even develop Stockholm syndrome, feelings of love towards their abuser. This is similar to other traumatic experiences. An adult who was abused as a child is never the same again; it influences them for the rest of their lives. It is a testimony to the malice and ruthlessness of Milo's opponents that they have ignored this point. They've also revealed how selective and hypocritical they are. In the fallout from Milo's scandal it was revealed that the actor George Takei, best known for playing Mr Sulu in Star Trek, also had a sexual relationship with a man when he was a boy. Like Milo he was also thirteen. His lover was aged eighteen or nineteen and they met at a summer camp. The director Roman Polanski was actually a sexual abuser. He had sex with a fourteen year old girl in 1977, yet nobody minded when he was given an Oscar in 2010 and was applauded by the Hollywood greats. (I remain suspicious about the timing of his dishonour too, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/ghost-writer.html.) What I would urge Milo to do is name and shame the people he talked about when he related the story of the pool party. He has a duty to help put a stop to these crimes. I hope this is not the end for Milo. He has given a press conference about what happened, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABJo7w-efTA. His existing fame and respect should be enough fuel for a healthy comeback. He could easily self-publish his book and make it a success. Or maybe another publisher with more balls will put it out. I know that he has done things that nobody will ever forget; his perceptive and heartfelt opposition to feminism, his champion of abused men and boys, and women in Muslim theocracies whom the feminists ignore. I wish him all the best and will continue to support him.

CERN disproves Ghosts?

That smiling Simeon of the small screen, Prof. Brian Cox has excelled even his own previous endeavours into the extremities of pomposity and ignorance. He claims that ghosts cannot exist because if they did then the Large Hadron Collider at CERN would have detected them. He says that ghosts would need to be made of energy and not matter; and seeing as they do not dissipate, they must have some kind of external energy source. There is nothing that accounts for this in particle physics. He arrogantly recites the following passage very quickly, as if he's rehearsed it from a script: "We're not here to debate the existence of ghosts because they don't exist. If we want some sort of pattern that carries information about our living cells to persist then we must specify precisely what medium carries that pattern and how it interacts with the matter particles out of which our bodies are made. We must, in other words, invent an extension to the Standard Model of Particle Physics that has escaped detection at the Large Hadron Collider. That’s almost inconceivable at the energy scales typical of the particle interactions in our bodies. And so we need not discuss this further. Does anybody object to that at all? No. Excellent; carry on." His co-host Robin Ince then makes a silly joke by pretending to be a psychic medium for the "purposes of balance". Their guest, the famous astrophysicist and skeptic Neil deGrasse Tyson then says: "You just asserted that CERN disproved the existence of ghosts?" Cox simply replies "Yes." This whole segment is a denial of science; the matching of theory with observation. Cox-Head knows nothing about paranormal investigation, in fact he knows nothing outside his specialized study at all; therefore he is the ideal person to talk about things outside his specialized study in the mainstream media. If the evidence does not match the hypothesis then there is something wrong with the hypothesis, not the evidence. Source: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/ghosts-brian-cox-large-hadron-collider-cern-real-truth-standard-model-physics-a7598026.html. See here for the entire programme: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b085tq49. Thanks to the dedicated... and usually unpaid... paranormal investigators and psychical researchers of the world, we have discovered that there is no doubt that the phenomenon we call ghosts exists. If it can't be explained by known laws of physics then there must be a lot more for physicists to learn. In fact some of the more modest members of the cosmological community are addressing issues related to the supernatural that Cox wouldn't go near if he were asked to drive there in his BBC Mercedes. Parallel universes are now being discussed seriously in scientific circles, for example see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/wormhole-to-trump-iverse.html. Obviously the presence of all kinds of paranormal phenomena means there are more questions to be answered. The ultimate objective of physics is to find the fabled "Theory of Everything"; the final answer to how the universe works. We have a hell of a long way to go. The solution, as far as I'm concerned, is to do better physics until the T of E has been found. The solution for the Coxxers of this world is to pretend the data is different and fool themselves and others into believing we are continuously on the brink of it. No doubt that helps with funding.

Fractured- The Death of Max Spiers

I've known for some time that the BBC was commissioning a documentary about the death of Max Spiers. A few people I know are featured in it. Fractured- The Death of Max Spiers was not broadcast on the terrestrial network and is only available on BBC Iplayer. It was uploaded on the 25th of February and will be available for three months, see: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p04tq5pk/fractured-the-death-of-max-spiers. (See here for a longer term link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Heqpn8z4R0o.
"Max Spiers was a conspiracy theorist." says the young female narrator at the very start of the show. The narrator, India Rakusen, doubles up at the presenter and sets out on a "one-woman journey!" to get to the truth about Max' life and death. Interestingly, she is also the producer. She provides a brief biography of Max' life and then travels around England and Poland in an attempt to get to the bottom of why his life ended so abruptly and prematurely. In doing so she interviews several people; most featured are Miles Johnston and Vanessa Bates, Max' mother. As always, these interviews are thoroughly edited. A participant in a programme of this type and duration can expect filming sessions from many hours to several days; yet this is often whittled down to five minutes of cumulative air time. If the producer is under a mandate to portray the documentary's subject in a particular way; it is easy to distort the character for the viewer using selective cuts. I don't know Vanessa very well and have only communicated with her online a few times, so I'm not sure how faithful the programme makers have been to her true testimony. Only she can answer that. Despite this they definitely omitted some significant details; you could give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was just for the sake of brevity. There are far more detailed discussions with Vanessa online, for example see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfaAz5wwhpc. On the other hand, Miles is a close friend and so I knew immediately that he has been grossly misrepresented. The first scene of him has Miles in a field watching helicopters and talking about trees. Then he shows the presenter round his house and the Bases Project studio. "Do you ever have a disco in here?" she asks sarcastically when she looks at the lighting rig on Miles' ceiling. Then Miles demonstrates a healing system and she makes jocular facial expressions while his back is turned at what she considers frivolous antics. The camera zooms in on Miles' various paranormal books, decorations and ornaments. There are cutaways where she makes more disparaging comments. Here is a statement by Miles about Max' death of his own production; see how different it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGWJ9bAB-4o. Miles and I have had a very long-running debate about the value of cooperating with the mainstream media and we have totally different opinions. I basically recommend nobody has anything to do with them at all; a "just say no" policy, like the kids are told to do with drugs. Miles still thinks he can do some good by allowing these propagandists to warp and pillory him in this shameful manner. Miles truly believes he can ride this dragon and if he bangs his head against the brick wall for long enough, he will eventually break through. He will not. See the background links below for more details.

The underlying message of the narrative is that there is a real human tragedy involved with Max' death and that we "conspiracy theorists" somehow just don't appreciate that. As if keeping silent about a murder is a way of showing respect for the victim. (I've covered this ridiculous falsehood before here: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/how-to-show-respect-to-victims-of-911.html). There is even a scene where the presenter attends Poland's All Souls "day of the dead" service and reminds us, for the third or fourth time in a thirty-five minute broadcast: "Beyond the conspiracy theories and online chat the fact is, Vanessa has lost her child. Max' children have lost their father." The implication is that nobody in our community cares about that. This is the same kind of sickly moral blackmail that was used on the BBC's Conspiracy Road Trip 7/7. The viewer then was told: "Believe the official story without question, or you are a heartless and tactless exploiter!" Between the passive aggressive rhetoric, there is an attempt to provide factual elements to the story. A few sentences from Miles about deep underground military bases, Dulce and Nightmare Hall, super-soldiers, trauma-based mind control etc was spared the cutting room floor; but the subject cannot be understood from such a brief introduction and to newcomers it will just sound grotesque... maybe that's the idea. There was an interview with the Polish prosecutor and they're currently treating the case as involuntary manslaughter. This is when somebody kills another person accidentally. The prosecutor repeated what we have already been told, that a doctor and an ambulance were sent to the scene and the police were never called. Max' body had already left the country when the prosecutors office found out about it and the initial post mortem examination was never carried out. This is a serious breach of normal procedure which the TV programme did not attempt to explain. Max had a post-mortem in the UK which was inconclusive as to the cause of death. "Gaps in the story and rumours fuel great headlines! Unanswered questions are like a red rag to a bull for conspiracy theorists!" says the narrator. Then we see a short parade of the most extreme of these ideas. In truth, most of our community initially discussed the subject the way I did, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/max-spiers-dies.html; plenty of far out speculation there, eh? This was my update shortly afterwards: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/max-spiers-death-update.html; Tin Foil Hat City, I'm sure you'll agree. "I find it hard to believe such weird ideas are the reason for Max' death." is one of the show's classic lines and it is repeated, paraphrased, several times. The reason they're so "weird" is because this is how the programme is portraying them. Nobody is denying Max took drugs. This started out as medicinal prescriptions and led to higher doses. There is some soap opera-like gossip about what Max' relationship was like with Monika Duval. In truth, only the two of them knew for sure and Monika is refusing to talk to the media. How is it relevant? What difference does it make if they were just good friends and housemates, business partners or a girlfriend and boyfriend? There will be a full coroner's inquest into the death of Max Spiers in a couple of months and the programme is careful not to speculate on what the result will be. Neither shall I. I just hope we get a solution, as Vanessa says in the programme; she just wants to know how her son died. However, there are undeniably suspicious elements to what happened and there is no doubt that the programme-makers are attempting to manipulate the viewer into rejecting any thoughts along these lines a priori. Fractured- The Death of Max Spiers is pretty much what I expected it to be. Somebody wrote to me from the BBC asking me lots of questions about Max and whether I'd be willing to assist with the programme... I did not reply. As regular readers will know, my advance outlook of what this TV show might be like were founded on the mainstream media's track record for coverage of the UFO/conspiracy/paranormal subject which falls far short of acceptable standards, to put it mildly; and enough is said about that in the background links below.

Wormhole to the Trump-iverse

There have been some very strange stories coming out of the post- US election turmoil, but none of them are as bizarre as the latest. I came across it on a video by one of my favourite YouTubers Dave Cullen, also known as "Computing Forever". There is a burgeoning concept floating round that the universe we're living in is an "alternate" one; although the word alternate is purely relative in this context. I think what they mean is we've moved out of the universe we're supposed to be in and into a "wrong" one. The reason for this is that Donald Trump is the US president. The way this happened was some experiment that went wrong with the Large Hadron Collider at CERN... or did not go wrong and the damage was done on purpose, depending on your point of view. The evidence cited is the mysterious "Mandela Effect" in which people conflate the same falsehoods from the past together. I've addressed CERN and the Mandela Effect before; see the background links at the bottom. Dave makes a contemptuous joke out of this story and, to be honest, it is rather droll. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_zsv2sFa-4. However is it really beyond possibility? No. According to the many-worlds hypothesis of Hugh Everett III and other cosmologists in more recent years, it is not only possible, it is certain. The mainstream is starting to take it seriously now. The ultimate establishment flagship, BBC's Horizon, made a programme all about the hypothesis, see: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x17qmgf_parallel-universes-bbc-horizon_tech. I have covered the issue myself numerous times, for example see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/philip-pullman-new-book-and-film.html. This means that not only could there be a universe in which Donald Trump failed to become president, but there is; there has to be. And could CERN have had a hand in that process? Theoretically, yes. In fact I myself have experienced the Mandela Effect, as I explain in the background links. CERN have released a statement saying they deny this. Researchers who think we're stuck in the Trump-iverse table several other strange eventualities as evidence for it, such as the Chicago Cubs baseball team winning the sport's biggest tournament; something that they annually failed to before for a hundred years. Nevertheless, on a practical level I agree with Dave. The reason this weird meme has trended is that Trump's opponents are still in such shock and dismay that Trump won, that they're finding new and creative ways of staying in denial. As I've said before, the political events of 2016 are unprecedented in their novelty. Because of media propaganda, many left-wingers regard Trump as the political equivalent of the Antichrist and this is their Apocalypse. Who wouldn't want some escapism from that? In fact there's even a spoof website which covers news from a fictional universe in which Hillary Clinton is president. It's meant to be satirical of course, but it has been dropped into the unexpected role as an online safe space for the easily triggered, see: http://www.hillarybeattrump.org/. As for the Chicago Cubs it's simple, a century of training has paid off and they've finally got their game together. My own view, as I've detailed before, is that the election of Donald Trump to the White House is a good sign, not a bad one. In fact it is, along with Brexit, the best thing to happen in the political world during my lifetime. If there is a parallel dimension out there in which Hillary succeeded in slithering her way into the Oval Office, I'm bloody glad I'm not in it.

Churchill on UFO's

The famous wartime UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill has always been a man of mystery and controversy and that continues to this day. Numerous histories and biographies have been produced about him that portray him in all kinds of different lights. Fifty-two years after he died new evidence is still appearing, and the latest revelations are the most remarkable yet. The old statesman had many hobbies and interests, and one of those was popular science. He was interested in the idea of extraterrestrial life and wrote an article about it in 1939 that has only just been discovered. He intended it for the newspapers, but it was never published. He understood the concept of the "Goldilocks zone", the narrow gap between the minimum and maximum distance from a star that a planet must be in order for water to exist in liquid form, an essential ingredient for life as we know it. Too close and the star's heat will turn any water to steam; too far away and it will only be found as solid ice. Churchill knew that life was possible on planets around other stars, but he thought only Venus held any prospects for it being found in the solar system along with Earth. We knew almost nothing about Venus in those days; since then we've found out from the Venera programme that it is probably the least likely place life could ever exist with its dense superheated atmosphere. It also seems that the Goldilocks zone is bigger than we first thought because there is liquid water on the moons of the outer planets and possibly life there too. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-38985425. Winston Churchill also took the idea of UFO's seriously throughout his premiership. Recently released British government files show that there was a real "X-Files" style project to address the UFO issue that was active in the late 1950's and probably earlier. Churchill himself was briefed on the subject during World War II when RAF aircrews reported encounters with strange objects while flying on combat missions. This is probably connected with the stories of "foo-fighters" that were well known among aviators in the war. The Prime Minister was so alarmed by the phenomenon that he ordered the matter classified for at least fifty years. He was concerned that it might cause "mass panic" if released. Considering that the British public coped very calmly with the Blitz, U-boats and their sons dying in foreign fields, it indicates how gravely the government regarded the UFO situation. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10853905. Also in the newly released files are details about the Berwyn Mountains incident and the "spaceman" at the Blue Streak missile test in Australia in 1964. At the same moment on the other side of the world in Cumbria, England a second spaceman was captured in an amateur photo; see background links below. The files are at the National Archives and are free to download for a month, so grab them while you can, see: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ufos/.

Philip Pullman- New Book and Film

Because I watched Never Let Me Go the other night, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/never-let-me-go.html, parallel universes are at the forefront of my mind. Therefore it was inevitable that my thoughts would settle back on the greatest alternative universe story of all; The His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman and its associated spin-off novellas; Once upon a Time in the North and Lyra's Oxford. Beginning in a parallel universe version of my own hometown, these books enthralled me like no others. The first novel, The Northern Lights, was adapted into a troubled film production, The Golden Compass, see: http://hpanwo.blogspot.co.uk/2008/01/golden-compass.html. I enjoyed this film immensely, but I saw it before reading the book. Existing fans of the books are divided over it. It was a brave effort and it might have been better received if it wasn't for the organizational problems related to it, most notably the first director walking out halfway through and having to be speedily replaced with a newcomer. The ending of the movie is very abrupt and truncated, and it happens in the story long before the natural pause given by Pullman when he wrote The Northern Lights. I, along with all the books' fans I daresay, eagerly anticipated the release of the two sequel films of The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. Production was due to resume in 2007, during a decade when we'd seen the films of other fantasy books like Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. Nobody doubted His Dark Materials would be reproduced in full for the big screen too. However the studio cancelled the series after The Golden Compass missed its box office target. There may well have been political pressure put on them from the church in the United States of America because of the story's atheo-humanist themes. Materials are what Richard Dawkins would call "strident" books. However it has been revealed that the BBC plan to make a new television adaptation. They have called in Jane Tranter to produce, somebody I have written about before; but I've changed my mind considerably since penning this screed back in 2009. I'm willing to give the Beeb a chance, see: http://hpanwo.blogspot.co.uk/2009/01/new-doctor.html. Source: http://www.salon.com/2016/04/04/his_dark_materials_fans_rejoice_this_new_adaptation_could_actually_do_philip_pullmans_novels_justice/.

At the same time Philip Pullman has announced that 2017 will be the year of the publication of the first instalment in a new series of books set in the His Dark Materials universe... or universes. The Book of Dust is a project he's been mulling over for some time and he mentioned it soon after The Amber Spyglass came out. As a prose writer myself I know it is not always possible to put pen to paper in any way before thinking about the story for a long time. My latest book Roswell Rising- a Novel of Disclosure, is a rare exception. I came up with the idea almost instantly, see: http://hpanwo-bb.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/roswell-rising-is-here.html. Pullman describes The Book of Dust not as a prequel or sequel, but an "equel", taking place over the same time period as Materials. It will include at least one of the Materials' characters, the heroine Lyra Belacqua; source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38978023. I will be in the queue outside the bookshop on launch day. It will probably be first released in Blackwells Oxford like all Pullman's other books and hopefully I'll be able to get him to sign it. Despite my love of his writing, Philip Pullman is definitely not above my criticism; far from it. I am particularly bothered by his antipathy towards CS Lewis which is totally disproportionate and frankly obsessive. In Alister McGrath's new biography of Lewis, CS Lewis- a Life, he reports that Pullman says he was tempted to exhume Lewis's grave and throw stones at his corpse. Source: https://www.amazon.co.uk/C-S-Lewis-Eccentric-Reluctant/dp/1444745549. Philip, what has the man ever done wrong except write some books you don't like? Pullman also claims that in the Chronicles of Narnia book The Last Battle, Susan, a young female character was sent to hell for being interested in clothes and boys. I myself disliked this element of Lewis' plot, but Pullman's statement is a gross misrepresentation of what really happened. Pullman considers Narnia religious propaganda, but it is no more that than his own books are non-religious propaganda. This is not the first time I've encountered such atheist and skeptic hypocrisy, see: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/skeptics-who-are-they-why-are-they.html. If only Pullman's own books were not so magnificent, then he could become one of my figures of derision, perhaps even rivalling Prof. Brian Cox. I look forward to the new books and films enormously.

Never Let Me Go

I'm going through a phase where I'm re-watching a lot of old films. I've been tempted to throw out some of my DVD collection because they're taking up too much space in my bedroom, but I'm glad I haven't. A few days ago I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind again for the first time in years, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/eternal-sunshine-of-spotless-mind.html, and last night I watched a romantic tragedy called Never Let Me Go, a 2010 movie based on a book by Kazuo Ishiguro, who is British by nationality, but I'm guessing by his name has Japanese roots. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXiRZhDEo8A. It stars Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield. At the start of the film the three central characters are played by children because the setting is a traditional English boarding school. There's a lot of intrigue during this act because it quickly becomes clear that there is something highly unusual about this school. The children have no parents. They have only single-letter surnames like "Kathy H", "Ruth C" and "Tommy D". They also have tags on their wrists which they have to scan against electronic locks every time they pass through a door. It is soon revealed that these children are all genetically modified clones. The setting is actually some kind of parallel universe. Most things in it are the same as our world, but there are a few important differences. Human cloning has been perfected and this has led to massive medical breakthroughs. The downside is that the clones at the school are necessary for those treatments and that it involves their vital organs being used for transplantation. This eventually and inevitably leads to their premature death after their third or fourth harvest, which is euphemistically termed "completion". Some clones "complete" on their first donation. Few of the clones survive beyond their early thirties. The school is an experiment into the medical ethics of the practice; they want to know exactly how close to natural humans the clones are, and the kids are made to draw pictures and write poetry to see if they "have a soul". This is a concept I'm familiar with because it is a part of the story in one of my favourite novels, Friday by Robert Heinlein, see: https://books.google.co.uk/books/about/Friday.html?id=e_4wKQAACAAJ&source=kp_cover&redir_esc=y. This is about a female secret agent of the future who is also a clone and has a very human side to her indeed, far more so than many of her natural born fellows. In the movie the viewer is left in no doubt that the answer the question is yes. The clones are portrayed exactly like normal humans, physically and mentally. In fact the central storyline involves a tragic love-triangle between the main characters. As their "completion" approaches the lovers struggle for more time on this earth (or that alternative one) to be together. What interests me is that it never occurs to the characters to refuse to donate their organs. There appears to be no coercion in the process; the clones are permitted to live normal lives in ordinary homes. Some even have cars and they interact with natural humans as equals. They're not imprisoned in camps and tied down to the operating tables, as is rumoured to happen in China to political prisoners. So why do they never object? I suppose if they were all locked up and forced to donate their organs it would make it a less interesting story. The idea of parallel universes is a fascinating one and now even serious scientists are considering it. Is there a real universe out there, in the distant reaches of hyperspace, where the scenario in Never Let Me Go is really going on? Could the Illuminati be planning to access it with the Large Hadron Collider at CERN? The film gave me some strange dreams last night.

Students' Magazine

The students from the University of South Wales who came all the way to Oxford to interview me have published their magazine which includes their article about me. See here for essential background: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2016/12/interviewed-by-students.html. The magazine is not published anywhere and only circulated in within the university as part of the course, but the leading author and publisher, Sophie Main, has sent me a copy and given me permission to post screenshots, see images below. It also has a website, see: http://neuxsusw.wixsite.com/nexususw, and here's my own page: http://neuxsusw.wixsite.com/nexususw/ben-jones. I was highly amused to find out that their magazine's name is Nexus. As regular readers will know, I'm a big fan of another magazine called Nexus and have subscribed to it for years, but it is very different indeed, see: https://www.nexusmagazine.com/. Their description of me is reasonably fair and representational, a far cry from my previous treatment by the gutter press, for example see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/my-interview-in-wales-on-sunday.html and: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/my-interview-in-sun.html.

Up Yours, Blair!

Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister and former chairman... sorry, chairperson... of the Fabian Society, has stooped to a new low. I didn't think I could possibly loathe him more than I already did. Blair, after lying to the public to start a war in the Middle East which he boasts "only killed one hundred thousand people," has given a speech to the Open Britain campaign group which would win the greatest accolade for Remoaning, if such an award is ever devised. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38996179. (If you've got the stomach for it, here's a recording of the full speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOqMfKAM9Bo). For me Blair is the epitome of the new left. He claims to "support democracy" with two exceptions; when it's not being practiced by a useful Third World despot, and when it doesn't go his way on the home front. Then he favours dictatorship. He says that "I want to be explicit... the will of the people should prevail..." yet his commitment to democracy means he plans to ride roughshod all over the European Union Referendum Act of 2015, the result of the 2016 EU Referendum itself and now the Article 50 Bill of 2017, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/mps-back-brexit-now-shut-up-and-do-it.html. In his speech he patronizes the Leave voters. When you take away his prevaricating flannel he is telling people like me we never really knew what we were doing. We were too stupid to understand the real issues involved. This is despite the fact that both sides in the campaign worked very hard to educate the electorate of this. There was even Cameron's infamous leaflet, see: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/david-camerons-leaflet.html. It was the centre of attention on every news programme and political analytical show on TV and radio. Blair now claims he can "persuade" us to change our minds. The good news is, I think his credibility being what it is, his speech today was the last nail in the coffin for the Remoaners. I don't like using swear words on HPANWO, so I'll just have to end the article here...

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

It's been a few years since I watched this film, one with the most intriguing title; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. (Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE-f1alkq9I) This is a line from the epic poem Eloisa to Abelard by Alexander Pope. I was in the mood for it because it's a story about Valentines Day, which has just past. I'm also in a similar situation to the main character, a man called Joel Barrish, in that I've been recently estranged from my lover. It's true that Ustane and I split up over three months ago, but we were together eight years so three months feels recent. This is the first Valentines Day since we met that she's not with me, so I hope you'll sympathize if it affects me. Although I'm not as cynical as Joel when he says: "a holiday invented by greetings cards manufacturers to make people feel like crap!" The setting is contemporary New York City USA. I don't know why so many movies are set in that one place. It must be hard to walk the streets of the Big Apple without bumping into a film crew. Joel is played by Jim Carrey in one of his best non-comedic roles. Joel has split up with his girlfriend Clementine, played by Kate Winslet with a performance that almost won her an Oscar. This is where a science fictional element comes in because both Joel and Clementine have their memory of each other erased. This is done by a company appropriately called "Lacuna Inc" using a pseudoscientific method that is not explored in detail. The process goes: first the customer must collect all the objects that they associate with the person or event they want to forget and bring them to the Lacuna office. Then the two rather nerdy and immature technicians make a "map" of the memory by brain-scanning the patient as they look at the objects. Lacuna than disposes of the objects so the patient won't find them lying around their home and wonder what they are. All the customer then has to do is go home and take some medication that renders them unconscious overnight and the technicians come into their bedroom and erase the memories as they sleep. All their mutual acquaintances are sent letters from Lacuna explaining what has been done and asking them not to discuss the matter with the customer. Most of the action takes place in the surreal dreams of Joel as his memories of Clementine are annihilated one by one. His dreams quickly become lucid and he realizes what is happening. He even opens his eyes and sees the technicians at work, but he can't move or speak because the process has a paralyzing effect. He then realizes that his memories of his lost love include a lot of joy as well as pain. He regrets that he agreed to the memory erasure and realizes that it was just an instinctive reaction to his hurt and anger at their split. He desperately longs to stop the process and tries as hard as he can, but he fails. It's a very moving part of the story. However, during one of his last memories of Clementine, she whispers to him the words: "Meet me in Montauk." There must have been some kind of telepathic event going on there because they both do. They meet again, this time believing they are total strangers, discover their lost mutual history and reconcile.
Unlike Joel and Clementine, Ustane and I parted with goodwill. Although I miss her, especially at this time of year, I feel no animosity towards her. I treasure the memories of our relationship enormously and would hate to lose them. However I know that human memory is fragile. It can be weakened and distorted very easily. Sometimes this take place in significant ways, as with the "Mandela Effect", see background links below. Sometimes memory loss happens naturally, with the passage of time or tragic disorders of the brain like Alzheimer's disease; but it can indeed be rendered artificially. One of the goals of the various government mind control projects is to eliminate and/or falsify human memory. They do this using various systems. One is media propaganda. As in George Orwell's 1984 in which the people really do believe Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia, modern media services can convince us of similar things. The best example relates to Muammar Gaddafi, the president of Libya for forty-three years. First he was presented as a bad guy, then a good guy and then a bad guy again. Behind that are mind control methods using direct biological interventions like drugs, electronic implants and surgical modification of the brain. This idea might sound extreme and unlikely, but it's not, it's real; see background links at the bottom. It's odd that in a film about mind control part of it should be set in Montauk. Montauk is a small seaside town on the eastern tip of Long Island, New York USA, but it is home to the disused military base Camp Hero. In the early 1980's people such as Preston Nichols, Stewart Swerdlow and Al Bielik began to talk of an underground psychological and psychotronic warfare research facility beneath Camp Hero. This was predictably dismissed as a "conspiracy theory", yet when The Discovery Channel did an investigation there they found flooded tunnels in the exact spot the witnesses said they could be found. It makes me wonder where film makers, even mainstream ones, get their ideas from. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is an original, fun and thought-provoking film. I really enjoyed it.

The Larry Warren Controversy- Part 7

See here for essential background: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/is-larry-warren-fraud-part-6.html. The battle for Larry Warren has settled down again, but this time on a higher plateau. I continue to find daily threats of legal action in my inbox, for all the various laws that I haven't broken. The bollocking I got off Larry's solicitor is clearly not enough for these people; they want more revenge. I've also been informed by some individuals, those with access to the expanding event horizon of cyberspace shut off from my gaze by the wall of blocked social media users, that my name continues to be blackened. I am alleged to be in possession of the addresses of all the letter's recipients and I apparently intend to publish them, or pass them on to the first homicidal axe-murderer who comes my way. The good news is that nobody outside the echo-chamber of the anti-Larry Warren cult believes this claptrap... and frankly I question how many within it do.

There has been a development concerning the A10 photograph. We have, for the first time, independent contact with Barry Greenwood. Gary issued this statement on February the 1st:
"THE BARRY GREENWOOD PHOTOGRAPHS
In late January 2017 I put out a magazine statement saying that Larry Warren had found the original A10 colour print. I stated that a 600 dpi scan should be taken of the original print and that either the original or the high-resolution scan should be sent to the renowned photo analyst Bruce Maccabee as he had been involved in the earlier analysis of the enhanced A10 image produced by Richard Martens in 2014. In recent days I became aware of a statement made by Barry Greenwood, the respected US co-author of the book Clear Intent, which had included several pages devoted to the Rendlesham Forest incident. He stated that he had a set of original scan images that Larry Warren had given to Barry's co-author Larry Fawcett showing pictures of the forest, that he believed were taken during Larry’s honeymoon in 1985. Given the fact that I had reported the A10 story in UFO Truth Magazine- Issue 10, I feel a sense of involvement to investigate the story to its conclusion. In recent days, I have been in direct communication with Barry Greenwood to try and clarify the origins of the A10 image. As a result, he sent me nine sets of three photos, twenty-seven pictures in total, all at the 600 dpi resolution, which he stated were Larry’s pictures of the forest taken during his honeymoon in the summer of 1985. These photos included the A10 image which people are familiar with. When I examined the high-resolution image he supplied of the A10 photo it immediately became clear to me that it was by far the best quality image of the A10 picture I had ever seen and that it did not show anomalous images above the aircraft.
BACKGROUND
If the high quality image does not contain any anomalous image then it begs the question, where did Robert Marten’s get his A10 picture from in which to make his enhancements? Martens stated that he had copied the picture from a photo album that was on Larry Warren’s original Facebook page. Note: Larry Warren will state that his original FB page was hacked in the summer of 2015 and he lost access to all of the photos contained in the albums on his page. That hacking forced him to create another FB identity profile page in the name of "Lawrence Warren". Larry Warren’s account in brief is that he took the A10 image on the morning of the 27th December 1980 using a Keystone 110 camera and that he’d taken a few random shots of the base and forest before going into Ipswich with several friends; and then returning to the base later in the day so he could go onto shift later that night, a night that would become the third night of UFO activity at the base. For over thirty years Larry Warren had paid no attention whatsoever to the A10 image because he had never seen anything other than the A10 aircraft and the forest in the picture. However, that all changed in the summer of 2014 when he was contacted by Mick Sayer on Facebook who told that he believed there was 'something’ above the A10 aircraft. Then he was contacted by Robert Martens who sent him what he said was an enhanced image of the strange object seen above the A10 (and supposedly derived from the A10 image in Larry Warren’s original FB album). This enhanced image clearly showed a structured-like object above the A10. Larry was amazed by this ‘find’ and told me about it which led me to write the article that appeared on it in Issue 10. At the end of the article I stated that there was a need for the original negative to be found to confirm the anomalies seen above the A10.
TWO ACCOUNTS OF THE ORIGINS OF THE A10 PHOTO?
Barry Greenwood believes that the high quality image of the A10 is from the summer of 1985 whilst Larry Warren maintains that it was taken on December 27th, 1980.  Within the nine sets of three images that Barry Greenwood sent me there were several that contained images of a man and a woman walking around the forest and wearing light clothing and not carrying any coats. One of the sets also showed a picture of Larry Warren himself wearing a light cardigan type top and not carrying any coat. The light clothing and lack of coats appears to be consistent with them having been taken during spring or summer period and do not appear to have been taken during midwinter and thus appears to be consistent with Barry Greenwood’s belief that they were taken during the summer of 1985 whilst Larry Warren was on his honeymoon in the UK.
REALITY CHECK
Only one person can be right? Was the A10 image taken in 1980 or in 1985?
How can the Barry Greenwood ‘original’ A10 image show no anomaly whilst the Larry Warren ‘original’ print appears to show at least one anomalous image? Ultimately, as Barry Greenwood suggests in his email to me, there is a need to examine the original batch of negatives for both the Bentwaters series and Larry Warren’s honeymoon photos, however, as far as I am aware, the negatives for both sets cannot be found and almost certainly after several decades are unlikely ever to be found. I want to add one point on the A10 date controversy especially in light of the high resolution image supplied by Barry Greenwood: If the A10 picture was taken during the summer of 1985 how come the ground ferns which are everywhere in the forest are brown in colour? During spring and summer the ferns are predominantly green and litter the ground extensively. I can attest to this as I have visited Rendlesham Forest in the summer on several occasions. I find the colour of the ferns in the foreground of the photo being brown to be a very strong indicator that the A10 photo had been taken in December 1980 as Larry Warren has always stated and not in 1985.
INVESTIGATION
Given the Greenwood images, I went back to Larry Warren for an explanation. This was his response sent to me today on Wednesday 1st February 2017:
'Gary...............Larry Fawcett attended my wedding. When I got back I GAVE him and his wife Lois some pictures of our visit to LONDON.... Cin (Larry's wife) and I went to Ipswich one day and to Bentwaters.........the airman I don't recall his name...........yes, some pictures ARE of the place with my wife in them. The A10 picture follows right after the main gate alert photo as found in our book...........has ZERO to do with '85.... In '85 F15's were the aircraft at Bentwaters.........When Fawcett died, Lois GAVE Greenwood ALL of Larry Fawcett's archives including photos....I had provided the A10 picture to LF with others for the Japanese to use on pre-shows before I went to Japan in 1984 and it and other service related shots were used by the Japanese in a 1984 TV show in Tokyo.........of course I had no idea what was in the shot...........ANY negatives are long gone....i.e. the 110 ASA negs........due to moves, a major flood at my sisters in the 1990s etc. Hope this helps cheers L.'
*Note: this has had some of the grammar and spelling corrected for easier reading. I have checked the records for Bentwaters and at least one squadron of A10's were still operational from Bentwaters until the late eighties so that information does not add to the evidence either way.
CONCLUSION
These developments do cast some doubt as to the origin of the A10 photo especially the year it was taken but without the negatives I don’t think we will ever know the definitive answer. Given the discovery of the relevant negatives being highly unlikely I believe that the colour of the ferns shown in the foreground of the A10 image, ie brown, offers the most compelling circumstantial evidence that the picture was taken in December 1980. As for the anomalous images found in 2014, Larry cannot offer an explanation as to how Robert Martens managed to enhance Larry’s FB A10 image to the level he attained. I myself have tried to enhance the image above the A10 but cannot get anywhere near the structured-like shape that Martens produced and the level of detail he attained is a mystery to me. One thing I am pretty certain of is that the original Barry Grenwood print of the A10 does not contain any anomalous images yet I cannot think of one logical reason why someone, Larry Warren, would go to the trouble of fabricating a hoax image, placing it on Facebook in 2011 in the blind hope that some unknown eagle-eyed person on FB might spot it and thus change history. Bearing in mind that it is a matter of public record that Larry Warren has never claimed to have seen any anomalous image (s) in his original print during the decades he has had it in his possession until he was made aware of an anomaly in 2014 on FB by Mick Sayer. In effect this renders the Martens' enhancement picture to be a mystery in itself and should be considered unsound in terms of proving that there was a genuine anomalous object above the A10. Personally having looked at all the evidence I do not believe that there was one. As I have always said, the evidence falls where it falls and I will not back away from publishing the facts, whether I like them or not. These are the facts as I know them to be. I want to personally thank Barry Greenwood for his cooperation and for the excellent photos he supplied to me.
FINAL NOTE
On a final note, I want to make this point, these developments do not alter my opinion that Larry Warren was the original witness whistleblower for the Rendlesham Forest Incident and that he was involved in the third night of UFO activity on the base. His involvement is a matter of public record as a result of the testimonies of both Sergeant Adrian Bustinza, airman Steve Longero and others who place him there and being involved in the third night of activity. I will be placed this update in the forthcoming issue of UFO Truth Magazine Issue 23.
Gary Heseltine Editor, UFO Truth Magazine"
So there are as many additional questions here as there are answers. I wonder if we will ever find the truth, seeing as the negatives are gone.

However, are there any prints currently available we can consider accurate? I was contacted by somebody whom I'll call "Joan"; that is not her real name. She is a scientist working in the academic sector and in her position, publicly proclaiming any interest in UFO/conspiracy/paranormal matters is not career-enhancing, to put it mildly. Joan has analyzed the photograph given to Gary by Barry Greenwood. One of her jobs at work is to enhance images for publication in scientific journals. She is concerned by a dark blob and a white line on the scan of the print which is roughly where the anomaly appears in the Sayer/Martens image. There is supposedly nothing anomalous present, but these artefacts can be seen looking closely. The A10 aircraft in Greenwood's print looks thin, as if there's been some resolution loss from additional processing. It's also at a slightly different angle to the one in the first print. This could indicate a montage, a print produced from two different images superimposed. This is a common method of blanking out some kind of detail that one wishes to hide. This is most certainly not definitive, and I must make it very clear (even though I know certain people are going to put words in my mouth no matter what I say), I am not in any way accusing Barry Greenwood, Lawrence Fawcett or any other individual of tampering with the image under discussion. Larry Warren's support team are not pursuing this matter at present and I am mentioning it here completely of my own independent volition; I do not speak on this matter for Larry or any of his friends and helpers, only for myself. Joan has corresponded with me alone and has not approached any of them at all. I personally think it could be significant and wish to place Joan's discoveries on the record.
There's been progress on the analysis of the photos published by Sacha Christie which I talk about in Part 4. I pointed out that the mirror image looked as if it had been altered, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/is-larry-warren-fraud-part-4.html. The above image, rendered by Tino, has the upper part of Larry Warren's face superimposed next to that of the reflected face. The reflection is far too indistinct to get a provable positive ID, as I've said before. I must say it does look rather familiar... but I will not name the person I think it is because I cannot prove it. However I think we can all honestly agree who it is not: Larry Warren. There is a lot of work going on in progress that I know of that I am not currently at liberty to discuss, but I'm very excited about what is to come. As I said in the background article at the top, Larry is going to be exonerated and all this nonsense will soon be over.

Trident Test goes Wrong

A Trident D5 missile launched from HMS Vengeance, a Royal Navy Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarine, malfunctioned during a "DASO- Demonstration and Shakedown Operation". The test launch took place off the coast of Florida USA in June last year. The missile had no warheads fitted and the automatic safety systems changed the missile's trajectory, off from its range and eastwards away from the American continent. It crashed harmlessly into the Atlantic Ocean. Oddly enough the government made no public statement until January... after the crucial Commons vote to renew the UK's independent sea-based nuclear deterrent, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/britain-renews-trident.html. Why? As we can see here, the Prime Minister Theresa May doggedly evades the question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WlVMeIEYpk. Source: https://www.rt.com/uk/374703-british-trident-test-failure/. Despite the fact that this was a minor incident and nobody was in any danger, it concerns me because the Trident system is such a devastating weapon. This is not just from its own destructive power, and each missile has fifty to a hundred times the yield of the Hiroshima bomb; but also because its use will trigger an instant and equal response from any nation attacked by it, thereby sending the whole world spiralling into nuclear war. In my view, a simple mistake is by far the most likely cause of any global nuclear exchange. In the event of such a blunder, how many missiles will fly and how many millions of people killed before somebody sticks up their hand and says: "Oops!... Sorry."? This is one of the many reasons Trident should not be renewed. In fact the existing system should be scrapped before it's too late.

Patricia Piccinini

When it comes to art I'm quite traditional. I admire classic oil paintings of landscapes, representational portraits of people and statues of famous kings and queens etc. That being said I'm not averse to some non-naturalistic styles. Shamanic and psychedelic art fascinates me; painters like Neil Hague http://neilhague.com/, Pablo Ameringo http://www.ayahuascavisions.com/pablo-amaringo-paintings-1.html, and Alex Grey http://alexgrey.com/. However I draw the line at dirty beds, dead cows and crucifixes in urine. Those famous "exhibits" are some of the milder horrors that lie within the deepest darkest vaults of the Tate Modern. I'm afraid I consider such works tasteless and meaningless. However occasionally a post-modern artwork comes along that makes me take a second look. Patricia Piccinini is a sculptress from Australia who not only has genuine talent, but produces creations that are remarkably thought-provoking; if no less macabre than her second-rate contemporaries. Her sculptures sometimes portray horrific surreal mutant figures; often human body parts arranged in a grotesque way. Seedling (2015) is a good example, see: http://www.patriciapiccinini.net/348/91. Often she'll show strange animals that appear to be hybrids of two or more species, very often including human, like The Young Family (2002) http://www.patriciapiccinini.net/144/45. The most disturbing of all Piccinini's images are ones which depict these aberrations alongside natural human figures such as Doubting Thomas (2008) http://www.patriciapiccinini.net/103/45, and The Carrier (2012) http://www.patriciapiccinini.net/44/2.

In 2016 Patricia Piccinini was employed by the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria as part of their "Towards Zero" campaign; to reduce road traffic accidents to the lowest figure they could achieve and make the roads as safe as possible. She had to imagine what the human body would look like if evolutionary natural selection over many generations favoured the ability to survive car crashes. The result was Graham (2016) http://www.patriciapiccinini.net/388/2. This being is barely recognizable as human. It has an extremely robust frame, no neck and probably has bigger, thicker bones than natural humans. Such anatomy is necessary to withstand the forces of high-speed road collisions. It reminds me of a TV anti-smoking advert I saw as a child that gave me nightmares; the "world's first natural born smoker", see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evIrwW6cLCg. I wonder where Patricia Piccinini gets her inspiration from. According to the Art Gallery of South Australia: "Piccinini vividly recalled a simultaneous revulsion and fascination at the time of her first foray into pseudo-eugenics when she created a lump-like creature from raw pigskin... While the impetus to experiment with the creation of synthetic life forms remains... (she) has an ambivalent attitude towards technology and she uses her artistic practice as a forum for discussion about how technology impacts upon life. She is keenly interested in how contemporary ideas of nature, the natural and the artificial are changing our society. Specific works have addressed concerns about biotechnology, such as gene therapy and ongoing research to map the human genome. She is also fascinated by the mechanisms of consumer culture." Does she know that, according to many witnesses and whistleblowers from secret government scientific facilities, entities similar to the ones she depicts actually exist? For example at the alleged Dulce Base, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBpG3YuXLE8. I know the existence of Dulce is highly questionable; however organizations like Project for the New American Century talk quite openly and seriously about the theoretical use of biotechnology for their purposes, see: http://hpanwo.blogspot.co.uk/2009/08/project-for-new-american-century.html. Whatever the government talks about theoretically it is probably doing in secret. "Graham" would not only be the ideal organism to survive a car crash, he'd also make an excellent solider because his body might also be durable enough to survive bullets, explosions and the effects of other weapons. It is possible that Piccinini has come across some kind of information, somehow, about what is really going on in secret underground bases; perhaps at Pine Gap in her own country. Maybe she's even been influenced psychically. Then again, her artwork could simply be the product of her very fertile and clever, but also rather ghoulish, imagination.
