Trainwreck- Storm Area 51

Netflix have produced a documentary about the "Storm Area 51- They Can't Stop All of Us" phenomenon. With the accurate title Trainwreck, it provides a good portrait of the internet meme that turned into a national security crisis. It began as a casual social media joke by a young man called Matty Roberts, but it spiralled out of all control, as these things sometimes do. Over three and a half million people signed up and on the chosen date, a proportion of them headed for the secret base in Nevada USA determined to "see them aliens!" It seemed to come out of nowhere. Matty was living a non-descript life running a vape stand at a shopping centre when he happened to come across Joe Rogan's interview with Bob Lazar; I have covered this in full myself in the background link below. He wrote something on a shitposting website about it almost as an afterthought, not intending for it to become what it did. It blew up overnight. Matty's mother was shocked by her son's unintentional call to arms. An entire community grew up within the next three months with different people proposing frolics and tactics, again in a half-humourous way that's typical of the internet. Even celebrities like Elon Musk and Miley Cyrus joined in on the fun. Plans were drawn up for the gathering. But it didn't stay fun for long. All kinds of problems emerged such as the sheer logistics of hosting a million people in a very remote and inhospitable area, making sure they had enough food, water and fuel to travel. The government became very concerned. The Nevada Test and Training Range Groom Lake facility is one of the most secretive places on earth. Its defenders will use deadly force if necessary should a large number of people attempt to invade it. That's when the brakes went on; potential attendees started dropping out and there were attempts to cancel it. Joerg Arnu of the Dreamland Resort website, who lives in Rachel, was one of the most vocal naysayers. The movement divided and the usual anonymous threats started circulating. The police were very concerned and Nevada declared a state of emergency. The FBI got involved, and not Mulder and Scully; real life "mean dudes". Matty was very perturbed by all this and took personal steps to deescalate the situation. He rebranded the meme from a raid into an outdoor party and festival called "Alienstock". The problem was that this new project was going to be a lot more expensive. In the end he had to get the pornography industry to sponsor it. There was also a plan to move the venue to the city of Las Vegas where organization would be a lot easier. At the eleventh hour Alienstock separated into two events, one in Vegas and one out in the desert. On September the 20th the storm broke, but luckily only a few hundred people actually congregated at the base entrance. There were a few arrests. One man was stopped with a collection of guns in the back of his truck. What would he have done if he had managed to carry on? See here for the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHcLSh9nTD0.

A huge amount of money was lost in security preparations, lawsuits and expenses, but it all ended happily. I think a lot of this trouble was caused by Matty's youth and inexperience. He himself admits he'd never heard of Bob Lazar before he saw him on the Joe Rogan Experience in 2019. I first came across Lazar on television in 1990. I know how the world of UFOlogy works and that there is an entire spectrum of people from the very good to the very bad; highly intelligent to profoundly dim, fairly level-headed to completely insane. I also know that UFO secrecy is a very serious matter and challenging it should be taken with much caution. In my own coverage at the time, I implored people not to approach the Area 51 border. This is also a warning about how modern online culture is a minefield. A slip of a thumb on a touchscreen can light the fuse that leads to a detonation that blows your life sky high. The line between reality and fantasy, necessity and fun, gets blurred. Storm Area 51 is similar to the "Boaty McBoatface" fiasco, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RRS_Sir_David_Attenborough#Naming_poll. As I've said before, it's also encouraging that the notion of the ET cover-up is now so popular. The truth has to come out in the glare of so much public scrutiny. Covid hit a few months later and all this mess was forgotten. Despite the grave dangers of the phenomenon, I can't help feeling disappointed that it never evolved into an annual event.

Giant Roman Shoes

Not that there's a direct connection to yesterday's article, but on the subject of big feet... archaeologists have stumbled across some curious discoveries in Northumberland. For a long time now they have been digging up ancient leather shoes from the garrison towns along Hadrian's Wall, but they have recently extracted some highly unusual ones from a pit at the Magna fort near the modern town of Haltwhistle. They are unusual due to their enormous size. Some are over thirty-two centimetres long, making them the equivalent of a UK size fourteen. This makes it likely the rest of the wearers' bodies were also unusually large. While there's a general correlation between body and shoe size, it's not always totally proportional. Generally, taller individuals tend to have larger feet, but there's a wide range of shoe sizes for any given height. Factors like genetics, ethnicity and even nutrition can influence foot size. Sex is a factor too; women generally have much smaller feet than men. I myself have unusually large feet; I take a size twelve shoe, and I am six-foot-two, slightly above average height. Some of the shoes are also an odd shape, having a normal heel space but being far wider around the toes. Because of their age, seventeen hundred years or so, most are only soles, although there are a few specimens with uppers. There are too many of them, at least five pairs, for them all to belong to the same individual. The Romans often wore sandals, especially in warm and wet climates, which Northumberland had in those days, see: https://hpanwo.blogspot.com/2021/11/climate-change-portal.html. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1TN-cc8kco. There are no records or identity labels that connect any of these shoes to any historical owners. Some people have suggested that the shoes also had inner linings or padding that has not survived. If so then you'd expect to find the same shoe styles across the entire region, not just in one settlement. Also why don't we see the same practice in colder parts of the empire, such as the Alps? The Roman Empire was the first Illuminati occupation state to reach Great Britain. Maybe they were doing simple breeding experiments to create a race of giants. Perhaps they had found such a natural race and had deliberately moved them to, what was for them, a remote frontier, the Guantanamo Bay of the Roman world. They were the Roman equivalent of supersoldiers. We know this was going on in other parts of the world in previous ages, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2013/10/giants-found-in-iraq.html. Maybe it was a natural genetic mutation. However, contrary to popular belief, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2024/10/cvd-is-ruining-wales.html, the modern Geordies are primarily descended from the people who lived in that area back in those days; and their feet seem to be normal sized, so if it was a natural genetic mutation it has been eradicated. Possibly it was caused by local inbreeding. People didn't travel around as much in those days as they do today. Either way, it's a very interesting science news story.

Jurassic Bigfoot

The latest episode of On The Track, the videocast by the Centre for Fortean Zoology, the host and guest present an extraordinary and exciting new idea. The Bigfoot researcher Ray Harwood is interviewed by Jonathan Downes, director of the CFZ, and Ray believes evidence for Bigfoot and other cryptids could be found using mosquito blood meal analysis. This is a standard procedure used by vetenarians and agricultural scientists to track disease transmission and livestock health. It is carried out by catching mosquitoes in a net or other trap and testing their stomach contents, blood from animals they've been feeding from. This was the basis behind the film Jurassic Park in which dinosaurs were cloned from the DNA found in ancient mosquitoes embalmed in amber. In real life this is not possible in specimens millions of years old, but it can be done if the insect has fed within the last couple of days. Therefore Ray thinks this method could be applied to the search for unknown creatures. As Jon says, this is: "so obvious in its simplicity that none of us can believe that someone else hadn't thought of it years ago." He compares this to having millions of free drones flying around doing the field research for us. Bigfoot might steer clear of people with cameras, but it cannot avoid being bitten by parasitic insects. If we catch a mosquito, tick or similar minibeast after it has recently fed on Bigfoot then some of the cryptid's blood will be inside it, include a genome. So long as we have a good way of testing the DNA properly we could find hard evidence that Bigfoot exists. It's not easy; after all chimpanzee DNA is hard to separate from humans seeing as it's 98% the same. There has apparently already been a signature of an "unknown simian" in Florida USA. Could this be the legendary skunk ape? It's not certain. There are also zoos in Florida with chimps and gorillas etc. This will take a lot of work, but if it succeeds then it will be a massive breakthrough. New Humanist Delivered

Something strange has happened in the realm of postal delivery. I came home from work a few days ago and found a brown envelope lying on the kitchen worktop in the spot where I and my fellow residents always leave items of mail for each other if they're too big to fit in our pigeonholes. I opened it up to find the magazine you see in the illustration. There was no covering letter or inner packaging; nothing to explain to me why it had been dispatched and by whom. The envelope was unmarked, yet my name and address had been printed not handwritten. The magazine, New Humanist, is an old one dating back to 1885 and focuses on culture, news, philosophy and science from an atheo-skeptical perspective. It is a quarterly and this is the latest one, autumn 2025. It has had a number of publishers over the course of its long history and currently it is being brought out by Humanists UK. The current issue centres on space exploration and has articles about it from a number of authors. I only recognize one of the names, Michael Rosen, and that surprises me; I wasn't aware he was involved. I actually met Michael Rosen when I was about nine years old because he visited my school. He wrote a series of humourous children's poetry books that I very much enjoyed such as Mind Your Own Business and You Tell Me. More recently he won an award for Sad Book which was inspired by the death of his son at the age of eighteen. In this magazine he writes about the word drone and its numerous meanings from a male bee to an unmanned aircraft. There are also a number of attacks on Elon Musk and a piece by somebody called Jess Thomson warning the SETI movement not to be "sexist!". This magazine is clearly very leftwing, like the organization that publishes it. Source: https://humanists.uk.

What's weird is... I never ordered this! It's not the kind of thing I normally read. I am not a Humanists UK member and am not on their national mailing list. I am only on the list for the local group because I attended their inaugural public meeting, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2024/10/oxford-humanists-launch-event.html. I did not pay for this issue. There are only two mundane possibilities that come to mind. This might be a promotional one-off copy sent to everybody on the list in the hope that we will buy more of them. Alternatively it could be a troll making fun of me. They've done this sort of thing before; in fact there are a number of fake accounts in my name on everything from Grinder to Filipina maid agencies. If so then this is worrying because they have clearly found out my home address. What other pranks do they have planned for me? This is not the first time I've experienced bizarre letterbox conundrums, see: https://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2021/04/something-strange-is-going-on.html and: https://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2021/04/antichrist-book-livestream.html. I suppose I will have to wait and see if the winter issue gets sent to me as well in three months. I don't think they should bother. I have read some of this issue and was not impressed with it. I certainly won't be subscribing.

Hurricane Erin 2025

The eastern seaboard of the United States is currently under a state of emergency. North Carolina and New Jersey have locked down all areas and some locations near the coast have been evacuated. This is because of the usual problem at this time of year; an active tropical cyclone, one of many that can cause terrible harm, kill people and devastate entire communities. It previously caused damage in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico and São Vicente. It reached its peak at category five on August the 16th while in the middle of the Caribbean. What's interesting is the name given to it, Erin. It is standard practice in meteorology to give names to any storm with sustained wind speeds of over 33 knots or force 7 on the Beaufort scale. These names are usually the same as those for people, alternating between boys' and girls' names and always start with each letter of the alphabet consecutively, for example: Anna, Bill, Claudette, Danny, Elsa, Fred, Grace, Henry etc. Erin is therefore the firth cyclone of the 2025 season. However, this is not the first hurricane called Erin. There was one in 2001 that began as a fairly normal tropical storm, beginning in the mid-Atlantic and working its way through the Bermuda Sea and up the eastern seaboard, but then it headed further north than most other hurricanes and ended up moving towards New York. By the morning of the 11th of September it was literally hovering just off the coast, threatening New York City; but despite that, no action was taken to protect the millions of people living there. This is despite the fact that had the cyclone made landfall over the City it could potentially have caused even more destruction than the attacks that destroyed the World Trade Centre. By the time the 9/11 attacks happened, everything else was forgotten. Nobody noticed that a few hours later the hurricane that had been heading northwest suddenly turned due east. 9/11 researchers like Dr Judy Wood believe there is a connection to the WTC atrocity itself. The reasons are complicated, but you can find details in the background link below as well as Andrew Johnson's website, see: https://www.checktheevidence.com/wordpress. The question inevitably comes to mind of whether something bad is about to happen connected to this new Hurricane Erin. There's no reason to think so specifically; whatever the connection between Erin 2001 and 9/11 it probably was not related to the reason that name was chosen. However, the Illuminati love symbolism, repetition and suggestion. It's a part of their belief system according to insiders like Mark Passio. There are numerous examples of odd coincidences and innuendo when it comes to violent and abusive actions that they do, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3As_ilhTLg. We can only hope for the best and be wary.

The Phantom Scarf-Stealer of Old CERN Town

When I first came across this story I thought it was a joke. I assumed that Dr Astrid Stuckelberger must be some kind of internet memelord, but no. She is a real scientist; here's her official page: https://www.astridstuckelberger.com. Her speciality is public health and she has worked closely with the Institute of Global Health and the United Nations. The problem is that this report is so outlandish that it puts to shame the "Unidentified Lying Object", see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2015/05/mystery-object-found-inside-lhc.html. Last month Dr Stuckelberger appeared on the UAP Files podcast and discussed a number of subjects. The relevant section begins about a quarter of an hour in. She herself is not a physicist, but she has contacts in the world of particle physics. She got involved during the Large Hadron Collider's risk assessment over nuclear radiation emissions. She then had dinner with some of the CERN scientists in Portugal and during the conversation it was revealed that the universe has seventeen dimensions, this is seven more than the prevailing published theoretical model. I wonder why nobody has reported this publicly. The CERN scientists then revealed that there is a door in the facility that opens onto an interdimensional portal. Entities have emerged from this portal and have met with the officials. The second time this happened the entity took a scarf back with them into their own universe. It was also not a coincidence that the LHC was restarted on the same day as a solar eclipse. The head of the project admitted that the gigantic machine might open a stargate. Interestingly Dr Stuckelberger has spotted the same connection I have to the Gotthard Base Tunnel opening ceremony, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2017/06/swiss-tunnel-opening-ceremony.html. She also understands that the author JRR Tolkien had a lot of knowledge. His stories involve magic rings, of course, and the LHC is the world's biggest torus, a ring. Dr Stuckelberger also believes that CERN is in receipt of extraterrestrial technology similar to that found in alien implants. Source: https://youtu.be/5HeP2eq0oPo?si=bAxbx0KxLWEtF6Ud&t=954.

There are obvious reasons to doubt this incredible testimony. Could Dr Stuckelberger be lying? Unlikely, because I can't see how this would benefit her; indeed I can well imagine speaking in this way publicly would be of enormous detriment to her professionally. What about the people she met at dinner; were they making it up for fun, maybe after a few glasses of Madeira? In that case wouldn't it be obvious to her? I can relate all kinds of absurd yarns I used to hear from drunken storemen in the JRH social club. It didn't take me long to work out that they were not meant to be believed, and Dr Stuckelberger is much older than I was and therefore less naive. She knew these scientists professionally as well as on a social level so I expect she would have found out after the party what was or was not banter. What does that leave? If the story were even partly true it would make many pieces fit with so much else, like the Mandela Effect, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2025/05/lawn-mandela.html. The good news is that if the Illuminati created the LHC for some nefarious purpose then it can't have been successful; or at least not completely. This is because there are plans to build an even bigger particle accelerator; two in fact, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2019/01/lhc-plus.html and: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2019/10/chinese-lhc-plus.html. Work on these new projects has not even begun yet and they will take many years to build so we will hopefully have time to reverse their agenda.

The Lost Boy

The title of this article is the same as a book by a former police detective and criminologist Duncan Staff. It has been adapted into a two-part TV series by the BBC and it concerns the principle remaining mystery of some of the most shocking murders ever committed. Following a number of disappearences in Greater Manchester during the early 1960's the police eventually arrested Myra Hindley and Ian Brady, and to their horror discovered that the couple had been torturing and killing the missing youths on the remote highlands of Saddleworth Moor. Over the years more and more information has come to light, but the dark shadow remains of the fact that the body of the couple's third and youngest victim has never been found. Twelve-year-old Keith Bennett was abducted on the 16th of June 1964 and taken to Saddleworth Moor where he met his cruel fate. Myra Hindley claimed she never knew where Keith was buried and Brady refused to tell anybody. Both killers are now dead. The fence along the roadside by the place the murderers used as a killing ground is a touching sight. To the present day it is covered with cards, gifts and other tributes left by local people, including Keith's mother Winnie whose only ambition was to give her son a proper funeral. She died in 2012 without achieving that. The search for the bodies has only been seriously restarted once, in 1987 because Brady himself agreeed to help the police find the remains of sixteen-year-old Pauline Reade which was accomplished. Greater Manchester Police will probably not try again unless they have an "X marks the spot", a pinpointed location. Critics have argued that Keith could be found if the police were willing to carry out a broad sweep of the entire area using ground penetrating radar, satellites and other sophisticated technology, but this is half a dozen square miles and it would take several years, costing millions of pounds; and they don't consider committing the funds worthwhile. Healing the hearts of ordinary people has never been high on the government's priority list. However, a new clue has emerged. Brady wrote an unpublished autobiography called Dark Light, a reference to his occult beliefs. The investigators have half of the manuscript and it includes detailed descriptions of the shallow grave sites of the first two children; but frustratringly the other half is missing. Staff and his team believe that Brady's law firm have a copy of the entire book in their archives, but they are refusing permission to release it, for reasons they never explain. The book could tell us where Keith is buried. He could be found, given a decent burial and this might bring some peace to his surviving relatives. Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/m002fxrd/the-moors-murders-a-search-for-justice. This programme includes something I've never heard before, a recording of Ian Brady's voice. He has an educated Scottish accent but is very foul mouthed. His psychiatrist described him as highly intelligent. He sounds emotionally cold, a true psychopath. He has never expressed remorse for his evil action; in fact he seems to relish it as some kind of victory or accomplishment. Duncan Staff said finding Keith Bennett will mean Brady and Hindley never truly won. I really hope they get hold of the rest of Dark Light and find Keith.

Big Spammer is Watching You 4- Untamed

See here for essential background: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2025/07/big-spammer-is-watching-you-3-tripod.html.
It surprises me that I have another story to tell you in this series so soon after the last; but then again, maybe the last one has just made me more alert and so I spot these incidents more often. A few days ago I did a livestream on Not My Rabbit Hole with Tere Joyce, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2025/08/ben-emlyn-jones-and-tere-joyce-8.html. During our conversation on the previous one, the subject came up of a Netflix TV series called Untamed. This is a murder mystery series about a policeman's search for the killer of an unknown victim in a remote wilderness. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRwV1k-abZo. I had never heard of this production before and certainly therefore had never searched for it. How surprising then that the next time I logged into Netflix after talking to Tere it was immediately recommended to me. It's as if somebody overheard us. You might argue that this series is a new release and therefore is always going to be at the top of any user's feed. This is possible, however the programme was launched on July the 17th, several weeks before our show, and there would have been previews beforehand. If this is another example of Big Spammer watching me then it is surely the most concerning. It didn't even involve emails or ad panes. What's more my Streamyard account and Netflix account are not connected in any way. They use entirely separate emails. Tere and I joked that it's as if they can read our minds. Maybe that's not funny. It is actually now possible to detect people's thoughts to a certain extent using an fMRI or PET scanner. It turns out that when we think of different things different parts of our brain are active. This way the scanner can work out, to a limited range, what we are thinking about. These machines are very bulky and cost millions of pounds, but then so were hoovers and refrigerators when they were first invented. In the future these machines will become smaller and cheaper until there might even be a portable mind reader which could be fitted to personal computers so that the internet knows us completely. Our thoughts are the keep of our personal fortress, the last line of defence from tyranny, as George Orwell described so brilliantly. We must not let it fall.

Kelly Chase at CITD 2025

See here for essential background: https://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2025/06/ben-in-desert-2.html.
The recording of Kelly Chase's lecture at Contact in the Desert is now available. It costs $US12.99, the equivalent of £9.66. You can stream it here along with Kelly's workshop and two panel appearances: https://pursuing-x.myshopify.com/products/kelly-chase-citd-2025. See here for the preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6sYhgOrSrg. As I said in my own review, Kelly Chase is definitely the speaker I disagreed with the most, yet I found her lecture probably the most interesting of all. I dedicated a complete scene of Ben in the Desert 2 to analyze her presentation. I'd sum her up as a backslapper without the narcissism or obnoxious manner. In the Q and A session near the end you can hear me ask my question.

War of the Worlds 2025

The latest adaptation of HG Wells' seminal work, the original alien invasion story, is one of the most interesting. Despite appearing a hundred and twenty-seven years later, it is fairly faithful to the original novel. The principle difference is that the film is set in the present day and so technology is a factor. The aliens are focused on data mining and conduct cyberwarfare against humanity. The main character is played by "Ice Cube", most famous for being a rapper; and in the movie he is an electronic intelligence gatherer. He spends most days, at least when aliens are not invading, watching people on CCTV going about their daily lives. The prologue scene as a standalone is very interesting for anybody concerned about the emergence of the Big Brother state. From his office Will Radford, Cube's character, can not only watch everybody anywhere and at anytime, he can read a label that each person on the camera has beside their image. This label gives details about them and how much of a security threat they are. This scenario is largely science fictional, but we do know the government does expend a vast amount of energy and resources to spy on its own citizens. We know they watch us at all times, they eavesdrop on our private conversations, they have both people and artificially intelligent systems to predict our behaviour. The true scale of the operations is classified, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are as capable as that portrayed in the film. At quiet times Radford monitors his own children, which, as a father myself, I suppose I would do in his position. Source: www.imdb.com/title/tt13186306.

Interestingly at the same time I have started watching a video series on YouTube called The Hidden Hand Behind UFO's. I'm only on part three, but I've a feeling it is stumbling along towards the rather unoriginal backslapper conclusion that "UFO's are a psyop, man!" The related point though is that part two is all about HG Wells. Wells was more than just a novelist; he was a political visionary who was involved in many of the same think tanks as Aldous Huxley and George Orwell (who tried to expose them). He wrote non-fiction books as well, ones that advocate for a new kind of society built on ideas such as globalism, communism, transhumanism, psychological control, depopulation and manufactured warfare. The change from our current society to the new one would have to be revolutionary and imposed from the top down; and, if necessary, against the will of the population. It's interesting therefore that he was the first thinker to develop the idea of hostile extraterrestrials invading and occupying our planet; an idea that has not only led to Wells remaining a household name several generations later, but has also inspired other stories such as the film Independence Day. If you combine the quest for a "great reset" of whatever description plus the threat of evil aliens you could come up with a very toxic and sinister mixture. We'll see where the series goes; and whether real life immitates art, both this one and HG Wells' original story. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkZqRjX21no.

Chad is Fine

See here for essential background: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2025/07/friendly-shop-worker-sacked.html.
I have an update on the above article I wrote the other day and it's very good news. It was found by a reader who told me about it in the comments. The love and solidarity shown to Chad Willoughby by the people of Taylorsville has triumphed over the heartless and mindless corporate bureaucracy that stripped him of his livelihood. The fundraiser raised $US6000 and that helped keep a roof over and food on for him and his family while he was unemployed, but I'm pleased to say another supermarket snapped him up very quickly. The grocery chain Harmons is a smaller institution than the global giant Walmart. It was founded in 1932 and has just twenty branches only in the state of Utah. They have given Chad a similar job as a cashier in their store in the nearby town of Sandy. Just like in the Taylorsville Walmart, he has quickly developed many admirers among the local residents who shop there. One of them, Candee Allred, organized a party for him in the shop's cafeteria. His customers cannot sing his praises loudly enough. They say he cheers them up whenever they're feeling down. No doubt this has increased the shop's popularity and therefore profit. His supervisor puts it very well: "His former employer's loss is definitely our gain." Source: https://www.sandyjournal.com/2022/01/03/380210/harmons-cashier-flourishes-in-his-job-and-gains-hundreds-of-neighborhood-fans. There are a lot of terrible things going on in the world right now and sometimes the evil seems overwhelming. It seems invincible, marching onwards with nothing and nobody willing and/or able to stop it. But we can stop it. The saga of Chad Willoughby proves that the light can defeat the darkness. (I will copy this article to the HPWA because I wrote a version of the background one there.)

Dedication

On more then one occasion I have reported on HPANWO that a media story appears and later disappears. These transient soundbites are often widely remembered by a large number of people, leaving no doubt that they happened; but all records of them vanish. They are never repeated again and later cannot be found in the schedules. A good example was the death of Osama bin Laden... the third one. I watched an anti-terrorism expert from the US embassy in London say that the earthly remains of Osama bin Laden would definitely be taken to the United States where they would be displayed to selected members of the press. Later it was announced the Al-Qaeda leader had been buried at sea and I've never been able to find that interview anywhere, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2024/01/no-easy-day.html. In 1966 during the Westall UFO landing in Australia the local TV news channel covered the story, interviewing witnesses and capturing footage of the site; but later investigators found that the tape was inexplicably missing from the studio archives. These days it is both easier and harder to keep our own records of contentious historical events. The internet means we can screen capture, upload and download whatever we like. But at the same time the rise of streaming services, electronic newspapers and the lack of home media makes the Memory Hole larger and closer. Obviously if Jane Stanley's WTC7 gaff had happened twenty years easier we would never know about it and those who recalled seeing it at the time would be accused of lying and confabulating... Or would they? You see, from as early as 1977, when the first home video recorders came on the market, a young woman from Philadelphia, USA started creating her own archive of TV channels, especially the news. Marion Stokes was a TV producer and librarian; she was also a civil rights activist, communist and feminist (Well, nobody's perfect). She was so concerned by the danger of fake news and censorship that she decided to preserve televisual history herself by making continuous recordings of all the TV channels that she could. This was before the days of internet on demand services. The only way she could do this was record them using VCR's. She had eight of these running continuously and used to plan her entire daily routine around the need to go home to change over the tapes. When she got older her family and friends helped her do this. She made over 71,000 recorded six hour VHS tapes; that's about 400,000 hours or over forty-five years of continuous television coverage. She ran out of space at home, obviously, and so rented flats and storage huts to keep them in. Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-us-canada-48190528.

Towards the end of her life she bought a number of computers and perhaps had plans to convert the tapes to digital files herself, but she never managed this. Her collection includes such significant events as the Iran hostage crisis, 9/11 and, one of the last things in it, the Sandy Hook massacre. Her son claimed that she had always been a compulsive hoarder and so it was this obsession mixed with her political beliefs that inspired her to put so much time, money and effort into her project. She also had a huge collection of books, newspapers and children's toys. When she died her tapes were donated to the Internet Archive and there has been an ongoing project to convert and upload them. No doubt this will take some time and right now it remains incomplete; but here are the pages: https://archive.org/details/marionstokestexts and: https://archive.org/details/marionstokesvideo. The tapes needed several shipping containers and lorries to transport them and they are being kept in a big warehouse. People like Marion Stokes do the world and humanity a great service. We live in a society where the media is exactly what she feared it was, an Orwellian Ministry of Truth. I have discovered this for myself. It's not just the news and current affairs that have suffered; it is arts and entertainment. Some items are not lost through malicious suppression, but mere accident and neglect. A good example is the quest to find the missing episodes of Doctor Who, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who_missing_episodes. Marion is not the only home recorder to have saved vital documents that would otherwise have been lost forever; here's another example: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2020/09/a-small-problem.html. However, Marion is surely the most dedicated and conscientious. Only when we have pored through her volumous library, and that will take a lot of people a long time, will we truly grasp the magnitude of her achievement. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that we will find some things in there which will make our jaws hit the floor. They will be things that exist nowhere else and will be things eliminated from all official records. Rest in peace, Marion.
