Happy Brexit Anniversary!

 

Today is the first anniversary of Brexit. I'd like to wish all readers a very happy Brexit anniversary and I encourage you to celebrate it as merrily as you can, lockdown or no lockdown. The government has released new driving licenses and vehicle registration plates to mark the occasion: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-style-driving-licences-and-number-plates-mark-one-year-anniversary-of-brexit-as-eu-flag-is-removed. Brexit is now the only part of the 2016 Effect that currently remains intact, see here for background: https://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2019/03/why-2016-matters.html. We must protect it and cherish it! At 11 PM on the 31st of January 2020, Britain left the European Union. I was there in London to witness it; see background links below. After that, the deal negotiations began and were completed within the original eleven month schedule, despite the coronavirus and calls from Remoaners to extend the period. The deal is not ideal, but it could have been far worse. What will happen in Britain's second year of independence? Will Boris find a way to take back control? Will the "Rejoin Alliance" be formally established in good time for the next general election? Will Scotland break away from the United Kingdom and find its "freedom!" in the EU "member state" dungeon? OnStellar Down

 

The alt-tech website OnStellar is currently unavailable, see: https://onstellar.com. OnStellar was established as a special social media network for people interested in UFO's, the paranormal and the unexplained. You will guess that I was one of its first members. It is very similar to Facebook or LinkedIn and uses the same open-source software as the latter. I post regularly on OnStellar and share as much relevant material on there as possible. I joined many people I already knew on Silicon Valley social media because on OnStellar we could speak more freely, without the fear of the censorship that has blighted Silicon Valley in the last few years. On this HPANWO Show I interview one of OnStellar's creators, Steve Mera, about its launch: https://hpanwo-radio.blogspot.com/2018/04/programme-280-podcast-steve-mera.html. All websites experience short and intermittent outages from time to time, and at first I assumed this was the problem with OnStellar. However, the site has remained down. It went down sometime since I last logged in a week or so ago; so it must be something more serious. I have made inquiries with the platform's management and received no reply. There has been no announcement on the site's Twitter feed, see: https://twitter.com/ONSTELLARSOCIAL. I also asked round fellow users and none of them have any information about why OnStellar is down. Whatever the trouble is, I hope the OnStellar team can solve it and return the site to full online status. It is a very good platform where you can meet interesting people and pick up all the latest stories about the astounding, the uplifting and the mysterious.

Bigelow and the Afterlife

 

Robert T Bigelow is our George Soros, a wealthy philanthropist who is as passionate about UFO's and the paranormal as any of us; and because he has the financial resources, he has contributed in numerous productive ways that have benefited us all, such as funding the Skinwalker Ranch research project, see: https://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.com/2020/07/the-secret-of-skinwalker-ranch-review.html. Now he has headed off into a new branch of study: consciousness and the possibility of life after death. He has founded an organization to achieve this, the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies. His motivation is to help people who are bereaved. He understands, correctly, that most people would find the prospect of an afterlife very positive. Not only would it ease a person's individual fear of death; it would make grief easier to cope with because the death of a loved one would only represent a temporary separation that will inevitably end with a happy reunion. There is a large overlap between those interested in UFO's and those interested in spirituality, and it includes me. Leslie Kean is another UFOlogist who has moved out into this subject. Both issues are part of what the skeptic Michael Barkun calls "the cultic milieu". Bob Bigelow is an enthusiast for the "golden age" of psychical research, about 1850 to 1930; when serious scientists and celebrities could be seen doing experiments in every spiritualist church, a rare occurrence these days. Bigelow hopes to kick-start a renaissance of such spooky good times. The fundraising method he has decided on is to offer prizes as an incentive for scientists and other experts to join his quest. I wish him luck, but there will be many problems Bigelow has to face if his objective is to provide "proof" in the sense that it is a discovery that nobody will be willing or able to contradict. The skeptics have so far shown themselves to extraordinarily resourceful and adaptable in preserving their worldview when confronted with evidence that threatens it. It could well be that there are also political reasons for placing obstacles in his path which are too complex to detail here. In fact this is a new idea for me, but I will be returning to that question soon.
