Paul Hellyer Dies

 

I'm sorry to report that The Rt. Hon. Paul Hellyer MP has left this world at the grand old age of ninety-eight. Apart from Sir Eric Gairy, Mr Hellyer was probably the most high profile political figure to speak out about UFO's. He was the Minister for the National Defence of Canada as well as holding several other cabinet posts. He was first elected to parliament in 1949 after a career as an engineer. In Word War II he built aircraft for the RCAF. He is the longest serving member of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada, the most senior political chamber in the Canadian government. It was fairly late in life, just a few years ago in fact, that he came to the attention of the Truth movement because he began speaking publicly about UFO's. He had always been open to the idea though, in fact in 1967 he set up a UFO landing pad; but it was from 2005 that he became a very vocal spokesman for the subject. He famously stated: "UFO's are as real as the aircraft that fly above our heads!" He also began speaking at UFO conferences and announced that he was writing a book about UFO's. It is a rare gem of a person who has the ability and bravery to pass through the conformist filter of a statesman's life and reach a point where they can say things anathema to regular politics. He must have known what he and his family risked. His contribution will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace, Mr Hellyer.
