As I discovered a month ago, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2020/05/is-project-blue-book-ending.html,
moves are afoot to produce season three of Project
Blue Book. This groundbreaking and fascinating UFO-themed historical drama
is far too good to fail, especially now when season two ended on such a
nail-biting moment of suspense. The reason History axed the show is apparently
not because they didn't like it or that it was unsuccessful; no, it was the
exact opposite. Each episode averaged two and a half million viewers in the United
States alone, not to mention the foreign
syndications which included a run in the UK
on SyFy. History has decided to go back to documentaries; scripted fiction is
no longer going to be part of their base. There's a good side to this because one
of the problems with the channel is the need for commercial breaks. These are
far more frequent with American television than British. An hour long episode
of a series in the UK
might have one to two advert segments, but in the States it is about five. The
writers and directors have had to take this into account and create suitable segueways
in the narrative for these breaks; that is not ideal for their artistic spirit.
The creators, David O'Leary and Sean Jablonski, want to broadcast the show on a
platform where the programme is uninterrupted. In a recent interview it was
revealed that the third season is ready to run; a script and storyboard for the
entire ten-episode series has been drafted. The writers are understandably
keeping details secret, but they have revealed that one of the plots will be
about the 1954 global flap, where for a whole year everywhere in the world UFO
sightings soared. They also have assured us that the conspiratorial theme of
the series will play a major part. Also obviously Hynek's quest to find Michael
Quinn must be concluded. Project Blue
Book is currently homeless, but hopefully that status will not last long.
Its studio is committed to signing it up with a new platform as soon as
possible so that production can begin. I think the show is so good that, far from
the franchise looking a platform, the platforms will be fighting over the
franchise. Hopefully after that it will be syndicated overseas so we Brits and
other nationalities can see it as well. O'Leary and Jablonski are even
contemplating the future beyond season three. The real life J Allen Hynek
investigated over twelve thousand cases, so they have an effectively infinite
supply of potential inspiration. Source: https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/project-blue-book-season-3-showrunner-interview/.

Thank you so much for writing about it. I hope we can save the series.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, ST. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteHi, did you watch Richard D Hall's recent upload of his Virtual Show where he talked about Peter Hyatt's statement analysis on Bob Lazar?. It appears that Lazar was making up his story all along. Richard believes that Lazar did work for Navel intelligence, but his story about being at the base and witnessing the saucer shaped disc was a concocted story put out there to discredit the idea of aliens being at the base, and that Lazar was hired to participate in the story. Pretty damning stuff for many in the Area 51 research field. Equally damning is Richard's beliefs (which I agree with) that the Rendlesham UFO incident was a fabricated story in order to cover up the illegal movement of a nuclear device that personnel on the base where trying to move to the adjacent base at night.
ReplyDeleteHi Anon. Thanks for the interesting comment. I've not seen that show yet, but I appreciate you reminding me to watch it. I can't answer completely until I watch the programme, naturrally, but I do think Richard is focusing too much on statement analysis lately. Sure, Hyatt and his colleagues contribute a lot, but they should not do so as a substitute for other kinds of evidence. The notion that UFO's involve some kind of neo-mythology about ET's in order to launder more down-to-earth is not very original and it is in fact somewhat fashionable at the moment. It is actually not very plausible when you consider how easily and badly it could backfire. Drawing somebody's attention towards something with the ultimate objective of deflecting it away is a very risky gambit, so much so that we can reject it on theoretical grounds. But, as I say, I've not seen Richard's input and maybe he HAS come up with something new. I cover Richard's position on Rendlesham here: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2019/12/richplanet-on-rendlesham.html
