Football Anglophobia

It is the eve of one of the biggest international football matches of the calendar, the European Cup Final in which England will take on Spain. What you see above is a house flying the flag of Spain; but this house is not in Spain, it is in Scotland. Also several of my Facebook friends from Wales and Ireland posted the memes below last week when England were playing the Netherlands. In sporting tournaments, people from the so-called, and wrongly called, "Celtic" countries will often support any team that is playing against England. Scotland is by far the worst of these nations in this way, but it's also a habitual attitude in my own, Wales. Sometimes this is just light-hearted, typical competitive banter; but it disguises a genuine deep-set historical hatred. I always joke that the only reason Italy was brought into the Six Nations was so that England could play just one game that was not a grudge match. I find it sad and uncomfortable to realize that this hatred is a central part of our national identity. In fact it has even become, in a strange way, a part of our self-esteem. It's an addiction in fact, a cult of self-pity. I sometimes wonder how we Welsh, the Scots and Irish would survive in a world where we were deprived of that lovely lovely cheesecake called victimhood. They will never admit it, but I suspect many people couldn't cope. They would lose all sense of patriotism and national identity. In a perverse way they literally need England to exist as an object of resentment so that they can exist. Without nasty old England, in a worst case scenario, these nations would culturally collapse and cease to exist as human tribal entities. I don't think that is healthy; it is what the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche called "slave morality". What's more, we've seen it elsewhere. Look at how British special interest groups are fighting each other over who is to be lauded as the most "oppressed!", see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2023/04/the-fall-of-diane-abbott.html. In the case of our lands, this grievance is based on a legitimate interpretation of the past. It is fair to say that during the last millennium the primary dialectic of the history of the British Isles has been the expansion of England, with its culture and language, at the expense of the other native demographics, but those days are over. In the 21st century we live in a very different world. The order of nation states is at an end; it has been replaced by a network of federations, military or corporate alliances and trading blocs; all are answerable to some undiscussed yet omnipresent world authority. All the nations of these islands are now just pieces on a globalist chessboard and those who still talk about "big bad England" are living in their own historical fantasy theme park, like the characters in the film The Village, see: https://hpanwo.blogspot.com/2008/04/village.html. It is this delusion that has allowed Wales, Scotland and Ireland to be swallowed up so easily by the modern empire in Brussels, see: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2014/05/plaid-cymru-and-eu.html. I know how important tomorrow is to a dedicated football fan, and there's nothing wrong with a bit of light-hearted mockery; but please don't take it too seriously!

Yes, everyone with the most tenuous connection to Wales, Scotland and Ireland seems to want to virtue signal their hatred of the English, even Plastic Paddies from the USA who've never set foot in Europe.

The Hitchensesque fixation of conservative commentators with Diane Abbott is actually just another example of the blind partisanship you have described in football. The perfect example of a diversity hire is in fact Kemi Badenoch, an ignorant, talentless parrot of a woman who would be nowhere if it wasn't for DEI. Ditto Priti Patel and Suella Braverman.

Diane Abbott is a principled Marxist. You know from experience what that does to people. She actually BELIEVES black people are oppressed in exactly the same way Jeremy Corbyn and George Galloway do. She's wrong, it's sad, but she's a long way from being the most obnoxious politician at Westminster or the most dangerous. She at least speaks her own mind and is not just a mouthpiece for the "undiscussed and omnipresent world authority".

  4. Hi GM. Obnoxiousness I think is subjective and for me Diane Abbott tops that list. Dangerous? No, she is harmless because of her lack of credibility. I have to differ about Kemi B, although I am disappointed about how she is slagging off a party I assumed she would want to join. I don't think she's a diversity hire, otherwise she'd have had a far more lucrative career with Labour.

Kemi is well invested in the Conservative Party and her career focus is on becoming its leader. It looks like there's a very good chance she will succeed at some point in the future so it's difficult to see how Labour could offer her anything more lucrative. She would be a diversity hire if her career had been fast-tracked by the Tories on account of her minority status. It's difficult to know if this is what has happened in her case, but the Conservatives invite us to suspect it has by copying Labour and describing themselves as too pale, stale and male (and expect no-one to take offence at being so described).

Evidently there are quite a few MPs so nondescript they are comfortable defecting to another party and to her credit Kemi Badenoch isn't one of them. Labour would never trust her because around five years ago she hacked Harriet Harman's website. Also she has made a number of very socially conservative statements on wimmings' issues which fly in the face of the immutable feminist dogma espoused by Labour's wimmings.

On the issue of hacking Harriet Harman's website it is interesting she hasn't been disciplined for that. Quite a serious offence I would have thought. I'm tempted to say she would have been sacked or demoted if she was white. Having a black woman leading the Tories is more important to globalism than protecting Harriet Harman.

  6. I would like to see KB become Leader of the Op. It's not just that I have liked a lot of her stances over the years it's because of Diane Abbott. Can you imagine the look on her face!? She thinks it's her birthright to be the first "Black!" "Woman!" Prime Minister. Losing out to another Labour luvvy would piss her off enough, but for it to be a TORY! And somebody on the far right of the Tories! She would become a one-woman everlasting salt mine!
HH has the usual leftist immunity. It's why David Aaronovitch can call for the murder of Trump and the BBC do NOTHING! He still has his show on Radio 4.
