Dr Peter Fenwick Dies

 

I'm sad to report that Dr Peter Fenwick has died. For a man who dedicated his life to researching near-death experiences, it's poignant to think he has now experienced the complete real thing himself. Dr Fenwick was a neuroscientist who originally studied epilepsy. He did much of his clincal work at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, before the unit moved to the John Radcliffe site. He was clearly a genuine and sincere person. He was perfectly capable of defending his postion against the most ardent naysayers. Dr Fenwick gave the gift to so many people of fascination and inspiration; but, even more important, hope and comfort. I hope his loved ones find some of that at this time. He passed away peacefully last Friday at the age of eighty-nine. Rest in Peace, Dr Fenwick.
