Has Titanic II Sunk?

See here for essential background: https://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.com/2020/05/titanic-ii.html.
The above might look like a picture of RMS Titanic, perhaps a CGI render from James Cameron's famous film, but it is actually not. It is an artist's impression of Titanic II underway. The original plan was for the ship to be launched in 2022, this year, so where is it? Work on it has not even started. The project website has not been updated for four years and no shipbuilder has reported being approached for a contract. It looks as though the project has floundered, even though Palmer has not formally cancelled it. The other Titanic replica, the Romandisea Titanic, also seems to have struck a development iceberg. This Titanic was not actually a replica in the sense it was designed to be a working ship. It is actually a floating hotel the looks like RMS Titanic, inside and out, and is intended to be moored permanently in a reservoir as part of a holiday resort in China over a thousand miles inland. The half finished hull is currently rusting in its dry-dock because investors have pulled out, including the actor Bernard Hill who played Capt. Smith in the Cameron film, because of a novelty that they consider rather offensive. Using lighting and sound effects, guests at the hotel could experience a recreation of the original sinking. It does sound in poor taste to me. Source: https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/the-titanic-copy-cats-that-have-been-as-ill-fated-as-the-original-ship-41653155.html. Maybe the time has come to leave the Titanic disaster where it is, in the past. A hundred and ten years is a long time, but it is still a catastrophe that killed a large number of people. Nobody should make light of that.

  1. Captain Robert here

    Forth flashed the serpent streak of steel,
    Consummate crown of man's device;
    Down crashed upon an immobile
    And brainless barrier of ice.
    Courage!
    The grey gods shoot a laughing lip: -
    Let not faith founder with the ship!
