In 1944 the psychic medium Helen Duncan was put on trial under the two hundred year old Witchcraft Act of 1735 because she was accused of defrauding the public by staging a fake seance. Was she really a fake medium? Or was something more complicated and furtive going on, something related to espionage and wartime security?
