David Miliband Quits

David Miliband has quit as an MP... or is that Ed Miliband?... I can't really tell them apart. The former Foreign Secretary, former Environment Secretary and European Foreign Minister has decided to go and work full time for the International Rescue Alliance. This is not to be confused with International Rescue, the imaginary organization invented by Gerry Anderson for the TV puppet show Thunderbirds. Miliband doesn't have enough personality to match the plastic marionettes which starred in that series. Nevertheless his brother is still labour leader; the clone of David Miliband is still in place... I'm only half-joking when I say "clone".

According to the official political media, the end of the Cold War resulted in the breakdown of communism. Communism was the "big, bad boogie-man" against which the so-called "Free World" fought for over forty years, and almost destroyed the planet Earth doing so. However the Milibands are both sons of the Marxist theoretician Ralph Miliband; and they're both involved in the Cultural Marxist think-tank The Fabian Society. So, to have this family in such a powerful position in the UK Government makes joke out all the rhetoric shoved down our throats during the "war against communism". It's so crazy! It's like, imagine if you will: in this new War Against Terror, with radical Islamists threatening to wipe us out in nuclear, biological or chemical attacks, the governments of the Western world were funding and arming a radical Islamic state, like say, Saudi Arabia... hang on

The Bank Robbers of Cyprus

In November 1983 at the Brinks MAT warehouse at Heathrow Airport, a gang of robbers stole £26 million in cash, gold and diamonds. It was described as the greatest bank robbery in history. However on Monday the Government of Cyprus overtook that by a long way! They agreed to steal over 5 billion euroes from the savings accounts of ordinary Cypriot people who have been naughty enough to save a certain amount of their personal income together. You may think "steal" is too emotive a word; the news is calling it a "levy"; it's hardly the same thing... is it? Yes. The only difference is that the money is inside the accounts and not in their wallets. If it were the latter you'd call the police; but this act of grand theft is being done in the open, with unbelievable arrogance, by these people's own government. It's amazing how terrified governments are of disturbing one hair on any banker's head; they're virtually tip-toeing around them with their elbows pressed to their sides and their shoulders hunched, not daring to ask them to toss a penny their way. There is now a controlled run on the banks, foreign investors from Russia and Italy, on which the island depends, are pulling out; wages will fall and retail prices will shoot through the roof. This is going to ruin the economy of Cyprus for decades to come.

It's worth comparing Cyprus with Iceland, two island nations at opposite corners of Europe, separated a vast distance by economic policy as well as geography. Iceland was where the crisis first kicked off in 2008, and Iceland's prime minister, Joanna Sigurthardottir and the women she recruited to her cabinet have let the bankers fry, they've refused to be "rescued" by the IMF and have even jailed some of the bank shareholders for fraud. (I'm a very harsh critic of feminism, but I can't help noticing the fact that the only decent politicians in Europe right now are female!) Iceland is now making a swift and productive economic recovery. Surely there is a lesson to be learned here, Cyprus.

Military Religion on Radio 4

The Military Religion has been debated on BBC Radio 4's Broadcasting House. This is, to my knowledge, the first time the mainstream media has ever dared to breach this subject (From 31.45): http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01rfy53. The debate doesn't go half as far as it ought to and it fails to raise any of the points that I would if I'd been there, but this is a step in the right direction.
See here for important background: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/lest-we-remember.html

Happy 18th Birthday, Louisa

Happy birthday, my little baby, my little sweetness and light, my little bundle of joy... Alright, I know you're not a baby any more; you're a fully grown woman in all respects. But I can't change the way I feel about you; the way I'll always feel about you, ever since I first held you in my arms, eighteen years ago today.

International Day of Happiness

On the 28th of June last year the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution A/RES/66/281, to make every subsequent March the 20th the International Day of Happiness. Today is the first one ever, and so this morning the BBC interviewed a man from Happiness International, and organization which has been campaigning for the adoption of the UN Resolution, see: http://happinessinternational.org/#sthash.V0QaOrYe.dpbs. The main criticism the presenter had was that happiness is an indefinable and intangible variable and that there's no way to measure how happy people are in quantitative and objective terms. However, as I've explained before in an article, some times ago, a method has been developed to do just that by King Jinge Singye Wangchuck of Bhutan. I've written before about this isolated and eccentric country and how it is reputed to be one of the happiest on Earth according to the King's Gross National Happiness Index scale, see: http://hpanwo.blogspot.co.uk/2008/01/bhutan-happiest-country-in-world.html.

Hancock and Sheldrake censored by TED

TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is an international conference host organization that operates under the slogan “Ideas Worth Spreading”. It gives short stage addresses, usually less than twenty minutes, to such renowned names as Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Al Gore and Stephen Hawking. I’ve always enjoyed the TED Talks and subscribe to their YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TEDtalksDirector. Science is a big part of their mission, quite rightly, and they feature many eminent scientists. Although they often host Skeptics like Michael Shermer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_6-iVz1R0o Richard Dawkins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxGMqKCcN6A and Susan Blackmore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ_9-Qx5Hz4. They’ve always come across as very open-minded and have given a platform to the likes of Jill Bolte Taylor, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyyjU8fzEYU. I was therefore not surprised and very pleased when they hosted Graham Hancock and Rupert Sheldrake, see:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b6-0yW7Iaw and: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKHUaNAxsTg. However if you look at these last two links you’ll see that they’re hosted by different users, those who have mirrored them. HPANWO Forum member Hyperborean has made me aware that these two men have had their videoes removed from the official TED site after “recommendations” from their “science board” and their “community”. TED have put up a statement explaining their decision: http://blog.ted.com/2013/03/14/open-for-discussion-graham-hancock-and-rupert-sheldrake/. They dispute the allegation of censorship because they have reuploaded the two speakers’ lectures in the “Open-for-Discussion” (YouTube channel: TEDConversations) part of their site. According to Graham Hancock this fringe ghetto was only added to the site after his and Sheldrake’s videoes were removed, because accusations of censorship began, see: http://www.disinfo.com/2013/03/graham-hancock-calls-out-teds-blatant-censorship/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+disinfo%2FoMPh+(Disinformation. It receives far fewer views than the rest of the Ted site.
I have written many time before about the dangers of Skeptocracy, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/richard-wiseman-skeptocrat.html. I’m deeply dismayed and angered by the censorship… yes, that’s what it is… of Graham Hancock and Rupert Sheldrake. How dare TED keep information from us that they had already agreed to publicize because of a handful of letters from the Skeptic equivalent of Disgusted-Tunbridge Wells! This proves once again that to be a Skeptic is to hold an ideological position that is not directly related to science at all. I know how poisonous and acidic a Skeptic complaint can be but that’s no excuse! We, the viewing public, have the right access all the available information from all sides of the issue and to decide what is or is not “pseudoscience” for ourselves, thank you very much! I demand that TED immediately restore Sheldrake and Hancock’s lectures to their rightful place on the main TED site whence they came. What makes me most sad about all this is that if they removed Shermer or Dawkins because somebody complained I, a staunch non-Skeptic, would be the first to leap to those speakers’ defence too.

NHS "Entitlement" Cards

This news story caught my eye recently: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2287531/British-citizens-forced-carry-ID-cards-access-free-NHS-care-crackdown-health-tourism.html. At around the same time Nigel Farage of the UK Independence Party made a statement on BBC’s Question Time warning of a new massive wave of immigration from Romania and Bulgaria: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfosifJmm6s. UKIP recently won unprecedented success at the Eastleigh by-election, coming ahead of both Labour and the Conservatives. I admire Farage for a lot of what he says and does, but my suspicious mind being what it is, I have to ask some awkward questions.

I doubt very much if these two items are coincidental. Put them together and they make a very predictable equation. At the time the National ID Card scheme was cancelled I did see it as the winning of a battle, not the whole war. I did caution the No2ID campaign that their claim to final victory was premature. The current National ID Card scheme was only the method the Government was using to create the database state; when that method failed I knew that they would simply go on and try a new one. This new “entitlement” card fits the bill perfectly. The only obstacle to its introduction was a way of making the people want it! With the news story above that problem might be solved. See here for more detail: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/immigration-something-must-be-done.html

Deer Cull

I saw this story this morning on BBC News; my friends Red Wizard and Hyperborean on the HPANWO Forum have also brought this to my attention (See Links column): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21688447. This comes just a few months after the disgraceful decision to cull badgers. The decision went ahead despite mass protests by thousands of people, including the rock star Brian May, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtRkf744yTU. Lisa Shunkaha Wanagi of Critical Mass Radio did a special show on this subject:  http://www.mixcloud.com/lisashunkahawanagi/. Now it seems that once again animals are going to be made to suffer for human mismanagement of the environment. One of the comments on the original news story is interesting. These "game handling regulations" have prevented the low-level hunting and sustainable husbandry of deer, and so caused their numbers to expand so rapidly. It's true also that Great Britain lacks a large natural predator, unless you include man; however we just kill things for convenience or the hell of it, not just so we can eat! This was a point made by Jonathan Downes of the Centre for Fortean Zoology, see: http://www.cfz.org.uk/. There have been attempts to introduce large predators to the British countryside; the obvious choice is the wolf. Wild wolves died out in Britain during the 19th Century, but there have been moves to release some from zoos into the wild to see how well they get on. The main argument against this has been the danger wolves might pose to humans, but nature is not meant to be some kind of public garden for humans! In North America many people enjoy the countryside and rambling, or "trailblazing" as it's called over there, is a popular pastime; Joe Dunn from The Mind Set Podcast is a regular at that, see: http://www.youtube.com/user/FLtrailblazer. North America still has many potentially hazardous predators like wolves, snakes, bears and big cats etc, but the people there just get used to it and adapt their hikes to take account of the danger. Most of those beasts avoid humans anyway and attacks most often happen when somebody tries to capture or kill an animal.

Basically, if we leave nature as it is to thrive and treat it with respect and compassion it tends to look after itself. It's only when we see it as something to be exploited and conquered that Mother Earth digs her heels in and starts making problems for us.

Will a Comet hit Mars?

A new comet has been discovered called C/2013-A1 You won't find much about it on a Google search, but the Jet Propulsion Laboratory has it listed on its small body database; nothing there except basic features and parameters, but its observation is still officially confirmed, see: http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=2013A1;cad=1#cad. It's important not to get it mixed up with "the Comet of the Century", Comet ISON, because ISON's official number is almost the same: C-2013- S1. So when I first heard about this here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2286654/Is-Mars-hit-comet-Direct-hit-Red-Planet-cause-BILLION-megaton-blast.html I did think that this was just another piece of typical Daily Mail bollocks, due to the twisting of info on ISON. But I've checked it out and it's not. Comet C/2013-A1 was discovered 3rd of January by Robert McNaught at the Sliding Spring Observatory in Australia. It's still a long way off, seven times the distance of the Earth to the sun, between orbits of Jupiter and Saturn. But then on 27th of February an astronomer called Leonid Elenin (familiar name?) stepped into the ring by discovering that C/2013-A1 will pass extremely close to Mars on the 19th of October 2014. He predicted between 200,000 and 30,000 miles away! Very close in cosmic terms! It's still too early to narrow that estimate down to a more precise figure, but there's a small chance it could collide with Mars! It's a very big comet, astronomers can tell by looking; about 20 to 30 miles across. It's also travelling at a speed of thirty-four miles per second. If it struck the surface of Mars it would produce a "cataclysmic" explosion, over one billion megatons, far bigger than all Earth's nuclear weapons put together. We can't know for sure for a while to come. Comets' trajectory notoriously difficult to predict because solar wind and radiation causes water inside to eject and this alters their course. But if it did turn out to be on a collision course then the impact crater would be over three hundred miles across and over a mile deep; it would cause major damage to Martian surface and environment. The newspaper laments that Curiosity and all other NASA probes on Mars could be destroyed. But is there a far worse danger?

I've had awful thought: If C/2013-A1 does impact Mars, where about's on the surface will it strike? Could it land on Cydonia? This is the small region of Mars which appears to have artificial structures built on it. If so then those marvelous wonders and treasures, "our inheritance" as David Percy calls them, would be destroyed, lost to us forever. For those Gatekeepers coveting the secret of Cydonia it would be a very convenient way of disposing of the evidence. A random stray comet; there is no more watertight case for plausible deniability! It makes you wonder where this comet came from and whether its trajectory really is random. If it turns out we're really talking of an impact on Cydonia what's going to happen, is there anything we can do to stop it? It seems not at first glance, but alternatively if this is a deliberate act then whatever means was used to make it happen could easily be employed to make it un-happen, if we can expose this massive act of vandalism. There is a video circulating at the moment which appears to show a UFO intervening with the descent of the meteor which exploded above Chelyabinsk a couple of weeks ago, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqJP3til0Ig. If UFO's were willing to help us out that time could they possibly lend a hand again... if you're reading this, Fellers? I'll be keeping an eye on this story and as soon as updates emerge I'll let all HPANWO-readers know.

Ben Emlyn-Jones on The Mind Set Podcast 11

I have once again been featured on The Mind Set Podcast's round table discussion. Subjects discussed this week include: rat telepathy, transhumanism, Morgellons Disease, sinkholes, underground bases and much much more.
See here for The Mind Set Podcast- Episode 142: http://www.mindsetcentral.com/archives/10681

(See here for my previous appearance on The Mind Set Podcast: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/ben-emlyn-jones-on-mind-set-podcast-10.html)

When in Rome...

It’s been a strange week in the Eternal City. First the Pope abdicates, a virtually unprecedented situattion. This comes at the very moment Kevin Annett’s Common Law Court completes its trial of the Vatican for crimes against humanity, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/the-pope-quits.html and: http://hpanwo-radio.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/programme-34-podcast-itccs-verdict.html. As always when the Catholic Church needs to choose a new pontiff they hold what’s known as a Papal Conclave of the Cardinals, this is where all the cardinals of the Church are locked inside the Cistine Chapel and hold a meeting and ceremony in the strictest of secrecy until they’ve made up their minds. This is being prepared for right now. It is a very serious offence for a cardinal not to attend the Conclave without suitable leave; it can even lead to excommunication. However one of them, Cardinal Keith O’Brien of Scotland, is not going to Rome to take part. The reason is that he has admitted to “claims of sexual misconduct”. Note the word “claims” not “charges”. We still have no details of the exact nature of this misconduct. In fact no formal accusations at all have been made against this cardinal who is named after Winston’s torturer in George Orwell’s 1984. And if they were… well he’d hardly be the first priest ever to get away with sex offences would he? I suspect Cardinal O’Brien has other reasons not to attend the Conclave; he wants well out of it and he’s used this misconduct incident as an excuse. Why? I don’t know. What makes this all the more mysterious is that the Queen had planned a trip to Rome in the between-Popes period; Kevin says this is because she is subordinate to the Pope and cannot enter the Vatican City while one is present, but maybe there’s another reason. The plot has become more complicated because the Queen has been admitted to hospital with a stomach bug and has had to cancel her trip to Rome (She is being treated at the same hospital as Kate Middleton was, see: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/death-of-nurse-jacintha-saldanha.html). The media is making sure that all eyes are on the Queen by posting both the tallest and the shortest police officers in the Metropolitan force outside the front door: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/meet-big-tone--britains-tallest-policeman-guards-queen-in-hospital-alongside-one-of-the-shortest-8518682.html. I’m afraid I have no narrative at all for this; I have no idea what’s going on, but unless this is an odd series of coincidences and irregularities then something peculiar is afoot. As for the Queen’s illness, I’d like to post a link for her doctor to read to help treat her; hope he finds it useful!: http://www.arav.org/.

The Knobheads of War

One of my abiding philosophies to try and value all people because I believe all of us are valuable is some way. I don't like to feel disdain for others, however sometimes I feel inevitably forced into that position because of their behaviour. Such an incident took place last weekend when I was on a train. It's been a while since I travelled by train and I always take the coach to go and see Ustane these days, and so I hadn't realized how much I actually dislike travelling by train, despite the advantages of the railway in terms of speed and comfort etc. My dislike of railway travel is for several reasons. One of those reasons is that coach travel seems to attract nicer people. This could be because on a coach alcoholic drink is forbidden, whereas on board a train you are positively encouraged to pour money over the buffet counter to consume their overpriced cans of lager and cider.

It was early evening and I was sitting in the crowded carriage of a train between Birmingham and Oxford. A few yards away from me on the opposite side of the aisle was a group of four young men sitting round a table. They were drinking heavily and had been for some times judging by the row of empty Stella Artois cans lined up between them, and also by their conduct. They were talking loudly and using a lot of foul language. Then the subject came up of the Falkland Islands. These islands off the coast of South America are British territory despite being on the other side of the world from Britain, yet the neighbouring country of Argentina claims them too and famously invaded and occupied the islands in 1982 until they were deposed by the British armed forces; this became known as the Falklands War. These men were obviously very much opposed to the Argentine claim on the islands, very opposed indeed. They became aggressive and animated as they discussed the subject. Their epithets included violent diatribes against the very attractive but somewhat untrustworthy president of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cristina_Fern%C3%A1ndez_de_Kirchner. One of the men expressed a desire to rape and mutilate her. Ironically I agree with them that Argentina has no right to take over the Falkland Islands against the wishes of the people living there; people who unanimously want to remain British. In fact the BBC sent a film crew to the Islands to interview any of the residents who supported the Argentine claim and they couldn't find a single person. What bothers me about the entire issue is that I can sense a silent undercurrent going on so clearly. We've been told that Margaret Thatcher used military force in 1982 to oust the Argentine occupation of the Falklands for reasons of patriotism and humanity; the Argentines were illegally occupying British territory and Thatcher cared for the people who lived there and their rights to self-determination. I am definitely not the only person in the world who feels deeply cynical about that professed motive; since when has the Government cared about the wishes and rights of ordinary people before? Also the Islands' wool industry and turnip farms hardly justify the conflict either. Here's the brilliant Nick Kollerstrom being interviewed about the subject: http://www.richplanet.net/starship_main.php?ref=94&part=1. The sea around the Falklands was prospected for oil shortly before the 1982 war and was found to be rich in deposits. This was confirmed once more with new strikes in 2010, coincidentally at the time Kirchner began upping the ante about the Argentine claim again. This was a prediction that I made which came true. There's no way Thatcher would have gone to the trouble of liberating those islands if it hadn't been for this fact; and would she have had to anyway, because would Argentina have bothered to invade them in the first place, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2010/03/falklands-war-ii.html? However there may be even more to the story than that; as David Griffin has recently discovered, there may well be extraterrestrial intervention involved. Here is a frightening but fascinating video about the role UFO's and aliens might have been playing in the Falklands sovereignty dispute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCJSKhtTtC0. Might there also be a connection to what I learnt from "Jack", see: http://hpanwo.blogspot.co.uk/2008/07/jack-of-antarctic.html.

I doubt very much if the four men on the train had ever considered these elements to the Falklands Conflict. To be honest, judging by the intellectual level of their conversation, I'd be surprised if any of them could point to the Falkland Islands on a map. They had formed strong views on the issue, but these views were not born out of calm and thoughtful analysis, but instead out of a very blunt and primitive emotional complex. All they knew was that their country was at war against another for some reason and this engendered a very base and primeval rage from the lowest and simplest parts of their brains. It's sobering to read pro-war media propaganda with this in mind because the authors of such propaganda are so obviously aware of this, and they deliberately design their publications to appeal to that level of our mentality; here's a very famous example from the 1982 Falklands War: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_Sun_(Gotcha).png. What disturbed me most about this experience was the reaction from the other passengers on the train. As I said, the cabin was crowded and the sadistic and obscene rants of these four thugs must have been audible to everybody in it, but they didn't seem disturbed by them. This was a strange and sinister observation; I'm sure that normally somebody would have challenged them and told them to shut up. Was it because the four louts were discussing the Falklands that the people around them didn't react? Had they too been psychologically conditioned to feel respect for military jingoism, even if their own conditioning wasn't as obvious?
